Cool puzzle game.
DO NOT BUY IF YOU OWN OR EVER WILL OWN AN OCULUS/META HEADSET. This game has always been one of my favorite puzzle games to sit back and play. The music the atmosphere it’s amazing However… the developers are a$$holes who punish oculus users because of their far left wing political views. Not only did I have to rebuy this game on steam after they took it off the oculus store (I was never refunded) all because the original founder of oculus was pro trump but they also took away controller compatibility with oculus headsets. It’s sad when devs make a great game just to punish its users all because the headset you own was made by a company with a single employee that didn’t share the same political views as them. It’s pathetic just like these snowflake devs.
This game really is mindblowingly awesome, even if it's a simple idea based on Tetris. But this is truly 3D and greatly benefits from VR. It's also hard, and might be great for some visual cognitive stimulation and training, lol. Officially the Index and Vive are supported, but it's probably only Vive, thus Knuckles are shown as Wands, but work perfectly. This game feels like the one and only true Tetris VR. The game may not be greatly optimized though, got reprojections with res 250% in 120 Hz, but solid 120 fps with res 200%. That's using a oc'ed RTX 3090, i9 10900K and 32GB 3200MHz. This looks like a simple game, not sure why it's performing worse than Alyx, lol. Not sure a high level of ss is very important in this game, it didn't look bad with Index res 100%. Achieving solid 120 fps by reducing res indicates that this game might not need a fast cpu, while a fast gpu may be needed (depending on how much ss you want). Btw, I guess this game is for those who ate all their veggies as kids and grew big healthy brains, not sure I did, sigh ;-) The colors are really awesome - never seen anything like it in VR, can't be properly shown in 2D image and trailer, and feel more like some kind of illuminated/volumetric fog in-game.
First played this game back on ps4 vr when they were first demoing vr at gamestop. First lets get this out of the way run perfect on rift, I don't use touch controls i use a controller. I like how you can change bloom settings. it's cool that you can see the last wall floating off behind you didn't realize this before. I like the leaderboard with your friends(and top online 250), which i have already beat his score.
It falls right beside Thumper to me: highly polished arcade seater. The mechanic is a great fit for VR, the spatial puzzle is simple yet evolve quite rapidly into a quite addictive challenge. Visual and sound design are gorgeous. Most VR games lack of polish on these points but SHC delivers. The feel of presence is overall great making the experience really engaging If you don't mind arcade mechanics it's great experience.
Although it's hard to recommend due to its lack of updates and needing Vive wands [I haven't tried with the Quest 3 controllers but remember the controls were strange using the Index's knuckles], the visuals are great and the concept is fun. I basically played this as a breather between other games, so say I did a hardcore session of Pistol Whip, then I would play this and then Beat Saber afterwards. I recommend picking this up if you have some Vive wands and SUPERHYPERCUBE is on sale.
This game has fantastic presentation. The look, feel, UI, soundtrack, and overall aesthetic are all consistent and impressive. This can not save the game from the fact that it is TERMINALLY BORING. It is essentially the same children's toy we all grew up playing: fit the brightly coloured block through the hole. The shape of the block becomes more complex, and you are given very little time to orient the block correctly, but the objective is identical and it never evolves into anything interesting. If you strip away all artifice, the game is literally just matching shapes within a time limit. If this sounds appealing to you, maybe give the game a shot. If this on its own does not sound enthralling to you, then the game is unlikely to hold your attention for more than five minutes it takes to get over the initially impressive presentation. Just watch the trailer, 'ooh' and 'aah' at the visuals, and then move on. If you were really looking forrward to trippy visuals while flying through abstract tunnels to cool music in VR, might I recommend Thumper or Rez?
Simple puzzler with a very cool aesthetic, only single player though and lacks a local scoreboard!
A neat little game. Mechanically it's not the deepest thing in the world, but it's definitely a fun take on the hole in the wall concept. The art direction is great, similar to Thumper in that it looks good in screenshots but really really good in VR. You can use Vive controllers if you want but you don't need to, though it's nice that they label the virtual buttons. Apparently the game works fine with any normal gamepad, if that's more your speed. I really like the UI elements, they are definitely neat - Polytron should release the controller models as workshop items for SteamVR.
I haven't been able to play too much, but this game is a pretty nice vr arcade game. My only gripe is that it is a little pricy. The aesthetic of the game is nice and sleek, and the game play is both addictive and challenging.
