The simplest way to describe this is top down tetris. The complexity is upped a bit due to the asymetric approach to gameplay. Its fun, addicting and rewarding. The visuals are clean, smooth and a delight.

This game, like the description says, feels like an nes game to me, for better and for worse. Gameplay consists of stacking blocks up four high and then clearing lines, like a top down version of tetris. It is very fun and polished, and small things like an extra storage slot compared to tetris are nice balance changes. There are two other modes, a "B" mode and a PVP mode, but i have only played the B mode. In comparison to the main mode, B mode feels very overwhelming. You now have four storage slots, pieces can have blocks with higher values, and new two and three block pieces are introduced. All of this, combined with a limited turning system that only allows the player to turn pieces clockwise, makes this second gamemode feel bloated in my opinion. Additionally, the pvp mode is only local right now which is sad, and i hope the game will get online pvp in the future. The visuals and music are great. The backgrounds are colorful and vibrant, 3d and animated, and the music is some very funky jazz mixed with electronic sounds. The announcer, who sounds like Joe Swanson from family guy to me, is also extremely charming and fun. I do wish there was more sound design though, as dropping pieces does not make any sound, which is odd to me. Some more subtle sound effects would have been nice. My biggest gripe with the game however is a lack of control options. I much prefer using wasd for movement in games, and when they force me to use the arrow keys, it really annoys me. Some accessibility options would have been nice too. The backgrounds personally dont bother me much, but i can see how it would have been distracting for some, so having an option to change it to a static, simpler background would be nice. Also, im not color blind, but id get some colorblind play testers, and add in a color blind mode, if that is an issue. My last gripe is that this game feel very barebones right now, which is to be expected. In the description it says this game takes inspiration from puyo pyuo, so having a silly story mode like puyo puyo, set in this game's colorful world, would be awesome. it would also be a way to add unlockables, like the description says the dev is planning to add. Overall, this game is excellent, especially for early access. It is very simplistic, but extremely polished. I only encountered one small visual bug, that fixed itself quickly, while playing. However, the second mode feels bloated, and the game as a whole is in desperate need of more options in the settings menu. Despite these shortcomings, however, the game is still extremely fun, and definitely worth the five dollars.
