It is the year 198X. Big hair is hot, and the war with the Soviets is colder than a refreshing glass of New Coke. RAD RAYGUN must travel the world fighting communist robots, and save the 1980′s by shooting his way through the decade in a totally fresh, expanded version of the original XBLIG game.

Cute game. Loved the 80's jokes. Started off a little janky but once you get some upgrades it opens up a bit and becomes addicting. Definitely recommend.
art is AMAZING--worth it for the slightly clunky gameplay
The perfect retro relief! https://youtu.be/xVpcDbW9Bvs

A retro-styled 2D platformer that is enjoyable by just about anyone. Good controls, fun combat, and a great presentation make this a must play. Even as someone who wasn't around during the time period this game takes place, it's still full of charm and great writing to boot. Highly recommend it.
This is game is decent. It's a platformer/shooter reminiscent of Mega Man minus taking boss powers to use against other bosses. And it's a whole lot easier, though still provides a good challenge. The upgrade system is cool. You collect batteries to equip to Rad, which can increase his hp, blaster damage, defense, agility, etc. But to equip them, you must buy slots with "bits" which you randomly get by killing enemies. This doesn't happen nearly often enough in my opinion, though I still managed to buy a good amount of slots. You can always remove equipped batteries and place them in another section, so you can customize your robot at any given time to help out best if you're having trouble in a certain situation. The story is amusing, focusing on the cold war, though doing a spectacular job making fun of governments and politics. I didn't like that often I found myself fighting enemies that shot bullets so rapidly and in tight areas that I had no choice but to get hit. And this might sound petty, but it made me put the game in full screen every time I played it, which really bugged me for some reason. Probably because, why would anyone want to play in anything other than fullscreen!?!?! Also the old school graphics made it difficult at times to tell what was in the foreground/background and what you could actually step on. Not that I fell in any holes or anything, just another minor annoyance. And you unlock "color palettes" as you progress, and some of them just made playing the game more difficult due to the wanky colors or rather, lack thereof. Not a bad game overall, well worth the price, anyway.
I played Super Rad Raygun for a bit back in the day before it was delisted, but I did not beat it. Pretty good jump-n-shoot game with a free-market protagonist beating up communists instead of Nazis for a change. But it's 2026, I tried to revisit the game, and it gets stuck in the loading screen. The game no longer works, and we can't expect any updates nor support since the game was delisted... but oh well, fortunately there is no shortage of other good jump-n-shoot games on Steam.
a bit too easy near the end. not counting that last boss.
Fun game. not avaliable on steam :(
Very pleasant run and gun shooter with some Mega Man vibes and an interesting take on the cold war. As some people pointed out, the battery collectible system can make you feel a bit overpowered, but at the same time it is a good way for someone struggling in a stage to be able to increase your power level by replaying old levels and finding the hidden batteries. There were a few sections where the old game era "enemies respawn if off screen and you re-enter their start location" mechanic wherein you'd get knocked back a bit trying to take out the enemies, only to have them respawn. This was the closest to unfair I found the game got, apart from the final boss
Until I realised that the arc shot was much more powerful than a fully upgraded arm cannon
All in all, if you are in the mood for game boy aesthetics and a light fun action platformer you could do a whole lot worse than Super Rad Raygun.
dämlicher scheiss,
