EDIT: Game has been abandoned for years and no single player or any other updates in sight. Online play is dead. I have changed my positive review to negative to reflect this. This is great. I grew up playing Tetris Attack on the SNES and always wanted a more accessible way of playing multiplayer online against other people; I knew about this game being released on iOS and heard it was in works for the PC platform, but this definitely came out of nowhere. The game itself is very faithful in how it plays and how combos and chains work. My only gripe is that I feel some of the animations could be smoother with the artwork, and the sounds need bit more of a oomph to them when doing chains and destroying blocks. But honestly that's all subjective;as a whole this is a great puzzle game and I highly recommend it. Looking forward to the single player content!!
It's like playing tetris attack without all the cool sounds effect. Would be nice if default match settings would be 2 out of 3 games. PROS - Play with multiple friends at once (up to 4 players ffa or 2v2) - The "state" of the current game is just like tetris attack multiplayer. CONS - Controller support via JoyToKey - Have to "leave game" after each match - Single player experience is lackluster (only training mode) - Game feels abandoned If you want to have a better experience, go play Panel Attack

this game is really good. a nice throwback to games like pokemon puzzle league, panel de pon and other associated puzzle leagues. it allows for so much more customization and sillieness than other games like it. as I write this it is still in alpha. any of the issues I currently have may be cleaned up by final release but as it stands here are my current thoughts. unlike other games in the puzzle league series it misses the option for personalized speed as a handicapping tool. this means everyone is on the same speed as the worst person. this leads to an issue wherein the most adept are streaming through while the people with less skill are swamped by the more skillful opponents. a lot of the charm of other games like it is gone with the lack of "characters". while the game doesnt need these; its more about the gameplay, the characters add a lot of charm to the games and add a distinguishing feature to each of the players for when they succeed making it more satisfying for when you take out another player. the background scenary can get a little stale and adding some extra backgrounds would do a good job of making each game more unique and stand out. keeping the visuals from getting stale. the lack of local multiplayer is a big flaw. I think being able to play with your friends locally would really add a lot to the game. other than these minor criticisms that can be ammended, or added by final release this game is a good adaptation of the classic puzzle league formula.
Comparing it to Panel de pon/Puzzle League, this has a lot of nice QoL changes (can change board height/width, variable block number, a visual indicator for how much time you have left). Online works well. A little bare bones aside from its core game play, as it's lacking single player content. Edit: They've begun to roll-out single player content. Hopeful for the future of the game.
my favorite game growing up was pokemon puzzle league for anyone looking for a good single player experience playing that game i recommend you get a emulator with some shader you can find on the internet thsi game is basically the exact same thing without any single player whatsoever will defenitly harass my friend to buy it when it's on sell tho
It's Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon/Puzzle League on Steam. What more do you need?
I hope this game grows into the mainstream puzzle league game that all us panel fans have been waiting for. The planned content is very exciting, I would say in its current state the largest drawback is the small playerbase, which can lead to sub-par matchmaking. However, I wouldn't vote negative for just that, since that is in no part the fault of the devs, the game just needs some time to grow a following.
