Reviews
Useful tip: the choice of vehicle is NOT just about aesthetics; the last motorcycle is the fastest (if you stick with the basic one, you likely won't be able to beat certain races on Pro or Legend difficulty)
bel gioco ottimo sequel direi il super hang on anni 90 in chiave moderna consigliato
The music of the main menu slaps. 10/10

fun and charming nostalgic arcade racer, engaging music and gameplay. graphics are servicable to pleasing and fully customizable. defaults to LoD pop-in which is very oldschool but you can switch that off if you want, just as you can switch tons of different effects on and off. runs rock solid. here are some things i'd love to see added: the races with one timer (and no time gates) are a bit annoying when they start at 99.99 and stay there for most of the race. please add a third digit there. its harder to gauge where you are at. i was disappointed when on the map where you drive through water, there is no splash effect at all happening. that and maybe gravel or sand (in the desert) would be neat to see - even if it just jets off strictly downwards like the drift cloud trails, that would be more than fine. other than that, yeah, that's actually it for me.
Lot of overall improvements since the last Super Night Riders, just as fun with a lot more polished experience. If you are looking for an experience like the old Super Hang On games, check this out. Great music as well.
such a sick game, definitely gonna buy the dlc just to support the dev

This games outside my usual sort of interest genrewise and I've never played any of it's inspirations but I've found myself really enjoying this one. The game itself is very straightforward, you just try to avoid crashing into other racers, go as fast as you can by using the boost as much as possible, and stay on track as best you can, roughly in that order of priority. Aesthetically the stages have decent variety, and it can be challenging at first to really differentiate them just on this merit alone which feels a bit odd to me for a racing game, but after you play more you'll start to recognize the general trend of each track type, even if you don't quite memorize all the turns and placement of enemy racers without replaying it a few times. What the game excels at though is a sense of speed and smoothness when you hit that flow state, as well as rewarding practice. It can be challenging but when you manage to keep boosting several turns in a row, stay on the track, weaving between the traffic but never quite touching anything it's really a satisfying experience not quite like anything else I can think of and even after clearing everything I keep booting up because I want that sense of speed. Content wise there's frankly not a ton but what's there is well used I feel; a handful of tracks arranged in various ways that do make them feel fairly different to play, with event races making you use different bikes you wouldn't normally after getting the Suzuka, courses being the longest type of race featuring many parts of tracks strung together, and stages being all the parts of one stage type in a row (I think). All three of theses are worth revisiting even after clearing, and I imagine most people will find a favorite kind among them. You can customize most cosmetics as well, stuff like the time of day and season which is pretty nice too, I've been enjoying Fall themed races myself. There's a a bit of character customization available too which is fun and feels unusual for this kind of game. Alice is frankly pretty similar to the kind of character I'd make anyway if I had my choice so I haven't done a ton with it but it's neat it's there. I keep going back even after finishing everything and I want to see if I can improve more (seriously some tracks I still feel like there's no way to make the turns without going offroad lol) and I think I'll probably play this for a while more. I'll definitely be there for a S2 if it comes around too!
An excellent little arcade motorcycle racing game in the vein of Super Hang-On. The controls are just where they need to be and the bike and tracks give you a good sense of speed. The music is an assortment of pounding rock tracks that really keep you pumped throughout the stages. The UI is alright, but most of the time you're going to be tunnel visioning the track itself, particularly the far end of your field of view for the entire race. What really helps this is that your current speed is also shown in floating numbers on the back of the motorcycle. Really you're not even going to be looking at that either though. The most helpful thing I found, which was really neat, was that once you hit top speed and boost is available, there is an audible click to let you know boost is ready. Just keeping your throttle at full speed and feathering the boost to handle corners is the name of the game to win. I haven't engaged with the customization options yet, but it looks like there could be some extensive options there. Really it's all about the arcade motorcycle racing and you certainly get that experience here. I recommend it to anyone looking to scratch that motorcycle arcade racer feel.
