You'll love it as soon as you hear the character selection song; there's so much of everything in this game.I just wish it had achievements.I wish getting into the upgrade truck was easier; I've died so many times trying to get in.
Super Highway Rampage is a fast-paced vehicular combat roguelite developed and published by Lasso Games. Set in a chaotic wasteland filled with hostile forces, the game combines high-speed driving, twin-stick shooting, and progression-based mechanics into an experience that emphasizes constant action and replayability. Rather than focusing on realistic driving simulation, the game embraces arcade-style destruction, encouraging players to race through dangerous highways while eliminating enemies, collecting upgrades, and surviving increasingly difficult encounters. The core gameplay revolves around selecting a vehicle and battling through waves of opponents across procedurally structured runs. The driving controls are accessible and responsive, allowing players to focus on dodging enemy attacks and positioning themselves for maximum damage. Combat is the main attraction, with vehicles equipped with a variety of weapons that can be upgraded throughout each run. The constant flow of enemies creates an energetic rhythm, keeping players engaged as they weave through projectiles and unleash devastating attacks against hostile forces. One of the game's strongest features is its roguelite progression system. Each run offers opportunities to acquire new abilities, weapons, and enhancements that dramatically alter playstyles. Some upgrades focus on increasing firepower, while others improve survivability, speed, or special abilities. This progression structure encourages experimentation, as players discover effective combinations and strategies across multiple playthroughs. The randomness of available upgrades ensures that no two runs feel exactly alike, which adds longevity to the overall experience. The visual presentation complements the gameplay well. The post-apocalyptic setting is filled with explosions, debris, enemy vehicles, and colorful combat effects that create a sense of relentless chaos. While the graphics are not designed to push technical boundaries, they effectively communicate the action and provide enough variety to keep the environments interesting. The vehicle designs are distinctive, helping players quickly identify different combat options and progression paths. The game's soundtrack and audio design contribute significantly to the atmosphere. Explosive sound effects, weapon fire, and energetic music reinforce the intensity of the action. The audio feedback makes combat feel impactful, while the soundtrack helps maintain momentum during longer sessions. Together, these elements create an arcade-style experience that prioritizes excitement and constant engagement. Where Super Highway Rampage may divide players is in its reliance on repetitive combat loops. Although the upgrade system and procedural elements add variety, the fundamental objective remains focused on surviving, defeating enemies, and progressing through increasingly difficult encounters. Players who enjoy roguelite shooters and score-chasing gameplay will likely appreciate this structure, while those looking for a story-driven adventure or extensive exploration may find the experience somewhat limited. Despite its relatively straightforward premise, the game succeeds because it understands its strengths. It delivers satisfying vehicle combat, rewarding progression mechanics, and plenty of opportunities for experimentation. The combination of driving and bullet-hell-inspired action gives it a unique identity within the roguelite genre, helping it stand out from more traditional top-down shooters. Every run feels like a chance to discover a new build, improve performance, and push further into the game's escalating challenges. Overall, Super Highway Rampage is an entertaining blend of arcade driving and roguelite action that offers solid replay value for fans of fast-paced combat experiences. Its accessible controls, varied upgrades, and energetic presentation make it easy to jump into, while the progression system provides enough depth to encourage repeated play sessions. While it may not reinvent the genre, it successfully delivers exactly what it promises: explosive vehicular mayhem and rewarding roguelite progression. Rating: 7/10
Very chaotic shmup. Requires a bit to get used to, but really nice after it clicks
Good.
very charming, cool game. i love the concept of these car action games. however, the game is very chaotic and might not be for everyone. difficult, very fast paced, bullets flying everywhere, which often blend into the background and with other pick-uppable items. i managed to finish the game deathless with the default green fella. i have no idea how you are supposed to beat the game with the other characters: green fella has a special ability that makes him immune to damage. its a very important ability. characters in general lack defensive mechanics. theres a universal turbo mechanic, it wouldve been cool if it gave the player invincibility or something.
Absolute sensory overload in the best possible way. Think Spy Hunter meets roguelite and you're sorta there, but there are SO many combinations to try, cars to unlock, and the g*ddamned MUSIC buy the synthy maestro Bad Guys Get Dead carries you along in a flow state so intense, you'll probably do like I did and refrain from blinking until you've completed a run. On sale it's an absolute STEAL; grab it and have fun!
I think the collectibles look a little too much like the damaging enemy bullets and things get very hectic towards the end which is to be expected but I felt like I was just ramming through every obstacle.
Pretty fun once you get the hang of it! It's fast and unforgiving at first but once you figure it out and start to make it further it's great!
Fast paced, action packed, the screen was a little busy, but was more manageable as I unlocked new drivers. Highly recommend!!
