If you're a fan of 80's style arcade gaming, add this to your collection. It put me in mind of a more chaotic version of Spy Hunter. The game is HARD, like a lot of 80's arcade games, but you don't have to pour quarters in this one to get your practice in.
Holy cow! This game has grown into a full fledged monster. There are so many drivers to unlock and so many weapons, CRAZY BOSSFIGHTS. Sick music and sound effects. LassoGames really leaned into this upgrade, It's like getting beaten to death by a NeoGeo cabinet now. Killer game. Bravo
Classic fun, Spyhunter meets Madmax in this endless road chase, dodging baddies, ramping into upgrade trucks and general mayhem ensue, very easy to pick up and play, with room to grow!
I don't see myself playing this again and that's why I tried a refund. You have to use the d-pad to move the car on the controller, you can't use the stick. You will constantly have to dodge attacks so aiming is as* because if you aren't moving straight you won't be accurate. The first character I tried, the only good gun he had was his machinegun. His shotgun was trash* and the pistols on his sides were laughably useless. I tried the alien dude on the motorcycle and controlling him was a pain in the d*ck. I played 24 minutes and was already bored because the game felt repetitive, it's not a problem if the gameplay is nice but I really disliked it. This game is absolutely not for me.
scratches an arcade itch i forgot i had. feels like spy hunter and ivan stewart's off road had a mad max love child.
Built around fast-paced shooting and minimal strategy, it drops you into dusty, enemy-infested roads where survival is more about holding the trigger than tactical choices. The game kicks off with a simple choice: pick one of two available drivers, each with their own uniquely styled vehicle and stats. More drivers can be unlocked later using gears, collectible items you gather during each run. Once you’re in, the action never lets up. You’ll blaze down a linear road littered with hostile vehicles and hazards, all while your weapons fire without worrying about ammo. There’s a minimalistic approach to the controls. You only need to hold to shoot, steer left or right to aim, and occasionally tap turbo for a quick dodge or speed boost. Each driver also has a unique weapon that charges over time via a heat bar. You don’t need to manage ammo or resources (turbo and heat regenerate on their own), which keeps the gameplay fast. Since you have guns on both side of a vehicle, you need to hold down two buttons at all times, which can make it painful after a while. Health management is unintuitive at first. Your health is disguised as a fuel meter, which drops when taking damage but slowly recovers when you're safe. It sounds risky, especially when enemy bullets are hard to spot in the cluttered visuals, but it’s forgiving enough to avoid major frustration during boss fights. The screen often becomes a sensory overload. Enemies explode into showers of scrap (the game’s currency), and occasional fuel for quick health or ammo for special weapon. This one isn’t that important because only some characters use ammo, while others use heat. The visual chaos makes it hard to keep track of what’s happening, and the fleeting nature of pickups, which disappear off-screen quickly, means you're constantly missing out on some of the rewards. True to its roguelite roots, the game splits the road into short segments. At the end of each one, you choose between two next routes, which might affect how quickly you reach a boss or what type of challenge awaits. The choices rarely feel meaningful though, as most paths look and play similarly. The lack of obstacles or road variation is another clue that choice doesn’t matter. Upgrades come in two forms. Mid-run, an upgrade truck appears: drive into it and you can use scrap to enhance your existing weapons and gear. It shows up constantly so you can never miss its offer. But there’s lack of information about upgrades because all you see is a weapon’s level go up without any stats. Logic says that higher is better, but the issue is that when a weapon is upgraded five times, you get to choose between two new variants that reset back to level 1. Also, new variants supposedly come with some perks, but you have no way of knowing because bullets and weapon stay the same after each upgrade. Alternatively, after boss fights, a garage might appear where you can swap out old guns or buy new ones to fill empty weapon slots. There's some variety in weapons, but the differences aren't always clear or worthwhile, leading many to stick with what they've already upgraded. Passengers offer another upgrade layer. These NPCs can be hired and slotted into your vehicle to enhance aim and range. However, since different drivers have different vehicle layouts, you might not always have room for them, such as bikes that have one or no seats at all. Ultimately, the game is short and doesn’t offer much beyond unlocking more drivers. The only story moments are in the intro and at the end, but it’s all very simple. Finishing a run just nets you a basic stats screen and a chance to try again.
Boy this one is a wild ride. There is a LOT going on at any given moment and it can be pretty overwhelming when you first start playing. But there's something strangely compelling about it to, it's just so fast and crazy that it all kind of works. There's an absurd amount of customization you can do for your cars, there's a TON of characters, and it's also a big game with a ton of different stages. Overall a lot of content for $6. For that asking price I'd say go for it if you want something really kinetic and visceral. Hoping they'll add leader board support though.
pretty good! Look forward to what this turns into
Strangely compelling. You drive a car. You shoot things. A lot of things. It's not a bullet hell, but the screen gets pretty busy fast. It's one of those "you have a helathbar" shoot'em ups. And you're gonna need it. There are a lot of cars to choose from, weapons to buy. And it's not linear - you can choose your patch, not unlike Outrun. Just be warned, that a single run is going to be longer than arcade norm. There is some jank here and there, but I don't really care. Because I HAVE FUN. I really do. And the team seems repsonsive. Oh, and the intro is totally rad.
