There is a lot to love about this demake of Dark Deceptiom. The visuals are great and the game has a lot of charm to it. The music, characters and locations look all very well made with a lot of attention to detail. When it comes to gameplay I have to be brutally honest when I say that this game has so much unfair gameplay that it will leave you frustrated. You cannot react to most enemies approaching you from somewhere off screen especially when you are speedboosting or teleporting making unfair deaths a common accurance. The mazes are alright in gameplay but all the other sections like bosses and mini bosses are to the point of being completely almost impossible to do without dying a lot of times. I really wish the games gameplay lived up to the visuals. For the price of this game I don't think it's worth it yet.

I want to say I like this game and leave a good review, but I can't. It's just like the original. It has a bunch of bugs, it's left unfinished, and it takes forever to come out with very little content. It's so easy to get soft locked, it's so unfair, it's infested with bugs, and at one point, you could see the debug menu. It is very sad that such a good game is under the hands of such a terrible person, Vince Livings. Not even going to get started on him. Chapter 1 was fine. It had issues, but I expected those to be fixed. They're not. After 2 years of no updates whatsoever and almost radio silence, those issues are still not fixed. The incorrect subtitles from the original are in this one too. How embarrassing. These guys had so many years to fix these subtitles, and they're still not fixed. The first level, perfect. The second level, it's kind of buggy, but it's fine. It's still fun. The third level, there's issues that need to be fixed, like when you need to look at the statues to prevent them from moving. They can come from top and bottom, but you can only look left and right. There are ways to fix this, like you should be able to use the right thumbstick or mouse to look around. The fourth level, the Doom Ducky boss fight is way too hard. The arena is too small and you can't go too far up because you'll just die. And it shouldn't be possible for the ducks to kill you when they're stunned or hiding. Everything else is fine. The fifth level. It's near perfect. The only thing that needs fixing is the clown spiders. They look out of place, and they are basically there for no reason. The sixth level, there aren't really any bugs I've experienced other than some of the nurses not getting stunned. The seventh level, There are so many bugs in this level that I don't even know how this was considered ready for release. I don't have time to list them off. The big main issue is how hard the boss fights are. Three enemies are spawned everywhere, eggs that stun you are being thrown at you, bombs are being dropped, you're being chased by a pig and a chicken, no walking space, a giant deadly robot that jumps on you and shoots lasers, and you have to survive for two minutes. Does that sound fun to you? It doesn't to me. To me, that sounds like unfinished game design. Oh, and the camera also offsets itself when you die, so you can't see yourself. The eighth level, it's so bad. The first thing you see when you enter the level, is the debug menu in the top left. Then later, you have a gray screen that soft locks you. From this point forward, this is a reoccurring thing that happens in the middle of gameplay. After you collect one of the notes, after the cutscene, Malak says the same line twice and then you're soft locked in the middle of nowhere and you have to restart the entire game. Note that the games save and checkpoint system is terrible, so when something like this happens, you have to do the whole entire thing all over again. It's not worth it. I haven't even finished this level because I had to restarted the game a few times and it's just not worth it anymore to try again. It's worse when you're going up and down because you can't see who's up or down. It's very easy to run into enemies because you can't see them at all. Telepathy is not really needed all that much in the original, but it very needed in this game. Also, I S ranked a level and it didn't unlock anything. It was because I was in hard mode, and not in normal mode. You have to be in normal mode in order to unlock extras. This game is just not that worth it. Don't get it. The creator of this game stole the original concept from a fan. I don't think I've mentioned this, but this game looks very good, and the music is amazing. I absolutely love it. The art is so good and detailed. There's so much thought put into it. Every track from the original is remade into this retro version and it is insane how well it is done. It's a shame that all of it is put into this bug infestation. Even some of the sprites are broken.
Im only giving this a positive review just because I like the story and art. This game is unplayable, full of bugs. So if you really like torturing yourself go ahead and play. If not I suggest watch someone else play on YouTube.
SB游戏,平衡度稀烂,人物上下判定贼TM宽,且有许多恶劣bug影响玩家的游戏体验,但凡这个游戏没有那么多的bug这都算是个好游戏

I really hate having to give this a poor review because I really do like & enjoy the Dark Deception series. However, I'm beyond disappointed with how buggy this recent chapter is. Crazy Carnevil? That level is great! My only concern is with how little space you have to avoid the clown spiders during the boss fight. Torment Therapy? It's fine at best, but the boss fight is what irritated me. It's difficult to teleport onto a different trunk as the teleport gets stuck onto the trunk you're currently on, preventing you from moving & leads you to dying. Otherwise, that's fine. Mascot Mayhem & Bearly Buried...? Horrible. The hitboxes make gameplay unenjoyable, and the difficult is meant to make it impossible to beat. I'd also like to note that some of the achievements are broken, making them unobtainable to achieve. I haven't fully tested which ones exactly, but some of the ones I've attempted to achieve & didn't receive were: - Fancy Lad ( Earn an S-Rank in Deadly Decadence. ) - Maze Buffet ( Get a high score of at least 30,000 in Maze of Nightmares. ) Again, I really don't mean this with negative intent. But, it's really frustrating having to play the game and not only face through softlocking bugs & unbalanced levels, but to also waste time attempting to get achievements that are impossible to achieve because of bugs.
i have loved Dark Deception for its pure uniqueness for a very long time, so i went into this as anything but a hater. as much as i would like to know why Vincent is remaking a game that is not finished, i suppose there are much bigger problems with this franchise to think about for now. i played until i was hardlocked in Agatha's secret well-bathroom after the cutscene and needed to reset the level. it's nice that this game upholds Dark Deception's uniqueness as i can't say i've ever been hardlocked by a cutscene in a wildly simple place thirty minutes into a paid game. negatively reviewing a game over an oversight isn't what i'm doing, because instead, it was Vincent himself that made me realise that people don't deserve the negativity that this franchise gives them. i looked at his twitter and read through his thread of very CEO-like complaints about his audience complaining about the terrible experience they paid for. that's what 'not recommended' means; that it is not recommended by a considerable amount of people! perhaps there is a lesson to learn there! hm! however, he does certainly have some CEO qualities being that only the potential for money is on his mind. sorry for 'scaring away' your consumers, Vincent. you are right. this should absolutely be the impression that Dark Deception gives. broken and aggravating. unfortunately, a mindset where you 'don't trust your crying fans' isn't nearly mature for the franchise he has. he is good at being baffling, because i want to know how 'trusting us' is even remotely relevant? i do not recall entering a relationship with vincent built on mutual trust, but perhaps that was hidden in the EULA. i would hope that a game producer instead would value the audience's trust in him, but you don't even have to be a fan to see that he could not show less care for it. it's just a little bit difficult trusting a man with such severe tunnel vision lapping up praise and blocking out criticism. i hope people like Vincent can one day interpret criticism not as 'screaming' but as criticism. critical criticism. someone who interprets the outspoken need for improvement as immaturity is behind in mental years and requires a reflection on themselves. for someone who is so critical about how game developers should be and how to get 'success', he's definitely happy enough shooting himself in the foot and telling his audience that they should be happy to witness it. wonderful visuals.
Don't play chapter 2 I beat the 4 levels and had it all erased and have to do it all again it was just dust in the wind there's no point going through the pain I'm currently enduring [edit I likely won't play again until telekinesis is re-buffed or the bug is fixed whichever it is]
