I liked Wartile and enjoy the "tabletop feel", but this successor is a broken mess. - unresponsive and full of bugs - absurdly unbalanced (worst I got : as a reward of the first region of the fourth campaign, I got a trinker that can summon a pet able to litterally solo the rest of the campaign) - broken progression early, you get team size increases super fast... but not enough heroes to recruit - punishingly random early on (if you don't get a balanced team or get multiple items you can't use, you just lose), trivial starting from the 2nd or 3rd region of each campaign - broken AI and pathfiniding (sometimes heroes and/or ennemies stand there doing nothing - sometimes a NPC you have to protect decinde to commit suicide by running into fire) - very repetitive : in 95% of the encounters, you just have to kill everything - and loot one chest if there's one, with a very limited selection of ennemis, maps and equipment There are good ideas and the whole concept could have led to a great game, but the execution is a blatant failure.
Its a cute and fun game but with lots of gameplay wonkiness. Game keeps advising me that I can cause lots of damage by pushing enemies from heights, but there is actually only one character that can do that and he is only available in the prelude. In the main game I finished an area and was given the opportunity to upgrade one of my five companions and two weapons. But when I did that I immediately was taken back to where I could select the next area and found that I had lost three companions and all but one weapon. Huh? Character control is also a problem. When you want them to do something like directing them which enemy to attack you have to do it multiple times before they get the message. When you want them to pick up an available weapon, you can't just tell them to go pick it up. You have to first direct them to go to the location and then when they get there tell them to get the weapon, and then do that multiple times before they get the message. It wastes lots of valuable time in a difficult battle. Additionally, there are some annoyances. Like when you collect lots of extra equipment and some coins you cannot do anything with them, like e.g. sell them for gear you can use. In the 6 hours I played it crashed twice. In sum, its a cute game but not yet ready for prime time.
great concept and beautiful graphics. however, the game's mouse control and configuration are a disaster. won't expect to play until fixed. for example, left click responds for selections and menu options but works when it wants to for character movement/selection, etc. same goes for right click. picking up the axe took me 10 minutes and still dont know why it finally did. this without considering that the axe image did not want to disappear from the screen.
Pretty buggy and not really fun to play. Seems bland and soulless.
Basically a hybrid of real time Frosthaven. Hex board. You can pause to give commands. Each character gets 2 active abilities and 3 item slots. In the end, very little strategy. Most of the time it's just your characters getting the high ground and then auto attacking. IMO would have been way better as turn-based. Each character really needs more abilities, but I suppose this wouldn't work well in real-time. The items are boring. The skill trees are ok but still doesn't really expand what you can do all that much. Good framework, bad execution.
I'd say no. It's not overly bad, but it feels unpolished and basic at times. Character vocalizations needs to be made A LOT rarer.
Good wartiles style dynamic combat whit pause option real fun, place your figurines, defence and offence to win is the key small objectives in combat mode to stop reinforcements ect..for 20$ its a good price a more then 30 maybe not!
Pretty cool take on a tactics game, has a tabletop feel. I wasn't sure if I would stick with it but after the 3rd campaign (Gwen) I'm having a good time now that some things are unlocked. May be a little too fast paced and not quite deep enough for someone looking for final fantasy/ogre tactics. I like the options in length of adventures and it's pretty clearly more going for the roguelite style of gameplay than long form RPG. I'd say it has a little bit of all the tags, but it doesn't go crazy with the roguelite mechanics either (no crazy modifiers for characters).
needs work first 5 minutes play through and my brand new PC crashed.
Great TBT/RTS. Easy to pick up and positioning your units is a lot of fun. Plan on playing more.
