"Честно говоря, потраченного времени жаль. Пятикратно переваренный кал..."
Stygian: Outer Gods.... where to even start. I'm a big Lovecraftian horror fan, especially in RPGs, however Stygian: Outer Gods.... just isn't it. The only thing it has going for it, is the horror elements and the story to a certain degree. As many before have said, the performance is terrible. I originally tried playing this game a year ago on an older PC and was unable to get past the first area without my PC heating up to an unreasonable degree. Luckily I was recently fortunate enough to get a newer PC that can actually run this game. However, to my dismay the gameplay isn't much better. The combat isn't really satisfying. Better than some other Lovecraftian game's combat (looking at you The Sinking City). But I digress, it is a horror game after all, I didn't enter this game to fight all the beings beyond my comprehension with my trusty sledgehammer. What really made me write this negative review would be the entire lack of direction you tend to find yourself in. I'd say at least a quarter of my time in this game was spent running around aimlessly not knowing where to go or where a certain key item could be found. Especially in the most recent content where I'd say I was lost for a majority of. Overall a 6/10 from me. I wouldn't recommend unless you really like Lovecraftian horror.
Terrible combat. Enemies just spam attacks until your stamina is drained, there's no interrupt, no dodge. You just back up slowly while blocking and watching your stamina go down until you are taking damage, and the enemies just go and go. They appear to have no stamina or limitations of any kind.
It has an excellent dark atmosphere, a strong Lovecraftian cosmic horror vibe, and a mysterious world full of secrets. I really enjoyed the exploration, puzzles, hidden stories, and the constant feeling that something disturbing could be waiting around every corner. The atmosphere, locations, and ideas are the strongest parts of the experience, making it truly immersive. If you enjoy horror, mystery, and dark storytelling, it is definitely worth trying.👍🏻
Off the bat, this is a good game. It has a great atmosphere, story telling, gameplay especially for something thats still in early access. I would say its an easy recommend at full price if you love lovecraftian horror or cosmic horror, and i would buy it on sale if you like survival games. since its early access these are things im hoping will change when the full game releases and are my major criticisms. consider these if they are deal breakers for you. - the ability to sell certain items would be fantastic, you're in game currency is abundant but you can't buy everything i missed out on the last hot ticket item because it simply was too much. this is also paired with the fact that you gain too much stuff in raw matirals anyway. by the end I was throwing away wire because you get so much and it only makes one thing. - Clarity, this game does not hold your hand and tell you where things need to go its a hope and guess with very little to guide you. the main reason this game took me so long to beat is because the last major quest i had to do was so unfogivenly unclear that it took 4 hours to find out. Items need to be hinted at being either the main quest or a side quest and they can give a small hint. - Weapon scaling, the point of the game is to avoid combat. it requires alot of resouces and can be easily avoided to an annoying degree. the more annoying part is to dissuade players from engaging in combat, even if you build your chracter for it, the game makes enemies tougher at every major milestone so even if you get a cool and strong weapon it doesn't stay that way. so to make sure they always stay strong would be good. all in all i loved it. i thought it has the makings of something great and im actually keen to play again with a different build which is very unlike me. it reminded me alot of the dishonoured games mixed with resident evil. always looking for a non linear path that can be back tracked on easily. 8/10
