Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program You can view my attempted "gameplay" here: https://youtu.be/q7WnCTE_aHU Okay so this is not really a review of the game. I wanted to do a review but found nobody else online to play against. This is an online multiplayer only game. There are no bots. I think you need 10 people online to start a match. I waited over 20 minutes just a few hour(s) after release of the game on Steam. It is possible that a lot of people will buy this game (or receive free copies) and by tonight, there will be several online matches going on. However, history suggests otherwise. By history I'm not talking about this game or this developer, but about VR online multiplayer games. Most of them fail. Even some big name ones like Space Junkies. So it's not looking good for this game. I hope I'm wrong. If things change then I'll update my review. Otherwise, this is all I have to say. I didn't like the locomotion. While there is free locomotion and smooth turning, it's all done on one joystick so while you can move forwards and backwards and turn sideways, you can't strafe left or right. You can also jump for some reason that may be apparent after playing online multiplayer. There's also a day and night cycle that seems to happen with a span of 5-6 minutes. There is some clipping through objects. There's several pop-in issues on my 1060 GTX. The graphics are just passable for this type of game. There's nothing to do while waiting for a match other than just walk around. I can't even comment on weapons or any type of real gameplay elements. As such, consider this an incomplete review. I would feel bad leaving a negative recommendation on a game that just released because it doesn't have enough players. So consider my positive review to be really just a neutral recommendation. However, please buy at your own risk. If I had to bet one way or another, I would bet on this game's failure. **** October 8, 2019 UPDATE **** I tried one last time to join a game on a Tuesday night (prime time hours) and waited for 20 minutes and again there was nobody online to play against. I did notice the game was updated as we now have full locomotion and smooth turning (left + right joystick). So you can strafe left or right now. Also, the queue has changed. Before you needed 10 people to start a match and that has been lowered to 2. Still, I was the only person online. I won't try again unless there are major updates to game and/or I see population has grown from Steam charts.
