This game should have been priced a $1 max. Fun idea with no content.
I will recommend this game with a few caveats: 1) Animals are OP as heck. No reason to try anything else unless you just don't get animal picks. Early game rats are 8 dmg each, and once you draft a couple wolves and bears all hell breaks loose. 2) Unless you are going for a serial killer build, zombies are not worth the pick. 3 base damage, going down to 1 after 3 spins with zero interaction or scaling later. 3) A poison build is easily second to animals, but it's a bit harder to pull off. 4) Cultists seem pointless. I tried a few times to go cultist build, with my best effort being 2 cultists in my first 3 picks. I didn't even SEE another cultist the remainder of the game. 5) The stone curse is by far the most annoying one, and coincidentally the only times I've ever lost. 6) This is early access peeps. The game will improve. However, that being said, I would highly recommend not raising the price dramatically while adding content. 8 bucks seems about right for this game, once it enters a more polished state. maybe 15 on the top end depending upon how much content is added. Across the Obelisk is 20 and slay the spire is 25 and this game isn't those games. I like this better than obelisk though. All in all a fun experience that needs extra content. My suggestions would be: More enemies, more cards, more artifacts, an endless mode, more ways to remove cards from your deck for fine-tuning.
Pros: interesting take on a deckbuilder graphics are decent Cons: Slay The Spire does it better, and is the same price its the same gameplay on a loop, and feels more akin to flash game from Kongregate a decade ago.
In a mix of board and card game, you need to pick between different strategies to fight your way to the top of the dungeon to beat the final boss. Making it to the end unlocks new cards, allowing you to try out new builds. It didn't take me long to unlock everything in the game, but it's a fun concept and I hope there will be more to come!
Good basic idea and a nice pixel art style. The game itself is enjoyable, at least for the 2 hours it lasts. Unfortunately the creator has disappeared and the last update was in March 2023. If the developer ever returns and finishes the games I can only recommend it but at the moment it is in no way worth the price tag.
bought this game cause it was fairly cheep and wanted to test it out, thought to myself "man with a lot of refinement this game could be really good" the look a see the dev seems to have stopped updating the game and moved on, leaving this game as more of a proof of concept
While the game is definitely still in early access and could use slightly more content, the core mechanics of the gameplay are solid, easy to learn and fun. If you enjoy playing Luck be a Landlord or other deck-building games, this might be for you. It's a relatively short game at the time of this review, but reasonably priced for the enjoyment I derived from it.
A good new kind of deck-building roguelike game where you get to see most of your "cards" at every turn, and instead of the fights going back & forth with attacks and defense, you have a set number of rolls to defeat each monster. So you have to balance your damage with your gold generation and try to maximize your synergy (because raw damage from individual cards will eventually fall short). Easy to learn, quick to play, enough variety that you don't do the same thing every run, but I hope the following months will see an increase in content because so far, it IS a bit short.
good start. lots of commonalities with luck be a landlord (cultist comp is a direct rip off). eager to see how this game develops moving forward. definitely lacking in terms of varieties of comps/cards/items/curses, but that's to be expected for early access. overall its fun! i recommend. do wish it was harder though. i won all but 1 game i played (got all curse achievements as well). because of the lack of challenge and variety, the replayability is low right now
