Strawhart

That was a fun game, but with a couple of pretty big flaws. For starters the visibility in some segments is straight up awful, and I couldn't figure out how to complete a couple of puzzles simply because the room was too dark. I really hope they add a gamma slider in the future. Second is some, in my opinion, very underused test elements. I had the same feeling after completing Portal 2, a game which Strawhart takes heavy inspiration from. Outside of those 2 things though this game rocks! There a lot of charm in everything, which is what I look forward to in my indies! From characters to story to secret puzzles... everything felt like the devs went above and beyond to make it feel a bit special. The star of the show though were the puzzle elements! They all feel so fun to use and navigate with, resulting in some pretty good (thought rare) platforming as well. I hope a puzzle + platforming DLC comes out at some point as I wouldn't mind getting some more of them. EDIT: a developer already confirmed that a gamma slider is coming, so odds are the biggest issue won't be an issue anymore by the time the next update comes around

The puzzles are not super challenging, as for making it easy for anyone to play. Great open world with everything that is needed for this type of game. I wonder what other jokes will come my way as I continue to play. This game is worth a play/try for sure.

Great puzzle platformer game! Love the art style

Fun puzzler with a beautiful world, enchanting music, tough boss battles, lovable characters and witty dialogue. A great sense of reward from solving the puzzles,

A lighthearted play style that makes you think as you progress through the stages. Classic RPG Puzzle solving that will take some of the older crowd back to their gaming roots in the likes of Zelda and Mario.

You can collect evil cultists AND adorable critters. 10/10 would play hide-and-seek with Critterina again

Strawhart has a great story and amazing puzzles. Very addictive.

Maybe this game wasn't for me, but I did not have the best time with it. (Note: Played on the Steam Deck with Controller, and did not explore the rest of the game. If the rest of the game improves the mechanics greatly, and you're not playing with a controller, you'll likely have a wonderful time. ) The throwing mechanics were hit and miss, with it being incredibly frustrating to try to throw something and it simply never hitting the spot I intended to hit. This, combined with the incredibly slow default camera movement, made it incredibly frustrating to do maneuvers like the ones expected, which was frustrating. Secondly, there were a few mechanics and leading decisions that sparked me as weird. The game did not explain situations like putting cubes into air rings before firing them at all, and I did not even realize I had those options when encountering those puzzles. Combined with the secret passage mechanic ( which I did not realize was the intent there ), and the strange out of world leading in the intro, the game probably needs some more polish before I'd pick it up. Again - this all might be coming from someone who should play it on PC instead of controller, but the lack of testing on that axis made me decide it was not my cup of tea, even if it looks interesting.

This is a wonderful debut project from a small indie group of devs with a clear vision and passion. Anyone searching for a relatively unknown game drawing inspiration from Portal, The Talos Principal, and even some sprinkles of Antichamber will see a real labor of love. The music is great, level design is varied, and multiple mechanics and powers all offer something to keep the game fresh to the end. It might not feel as polished as the giants of the genre, but it is every bit just as worth playing. Take your time and use the mechanics to really look around - exploration and collectibles are a deceptively large part of the intrigue, and Strawhart delivers a ton of eureka moments off the beaten path (even if you get too clever and end up out of bounds some of the time). I promise it will scratch the itch. Be warned, however - there are a few reactionary puzzles and boss fights inside that may feel frustrating due to an emphasis on twitch aiming to change powers rather than swapping via button presses. KB&M is definitely recommended, though I believe the devs either already have, or are in the process of making amends for controller bros.

Strawhart is an incredibly atmospheric and comfy game that truly is a pleasure to play on the steam deck. I've haven't gotten too far into the story just yet, but everything about it seems to easily itch that fall aesthetic i always crave. Without a doubt, i will be looking forward to continuing my play through and seeing what Cypher Creations has in store for the future!
