Selfloss' world is beautiful to stare at. The story is poignant and delivered cleverly, making you connect the dots as you move along the game. A decent example of show, don't tell. I can certainly appreciate the artistic vision that went into it. Sadly, that concludes the positives I found in it. The gameplay is far too slow, the inputs imprecise, the crashes and glitches more frequent than acceptable. At one point during the final boss fight the main character was randomly thrown into the air - which was good for a quick chuckle - but completely evaporated any sense of gravitas the whole affair had. Selfloss was a frustrating game to play. It was also way too expensive for a game that lasts less than 8h to fully complete. As it stands, it is difficult for me to recommend it.
I have mixed feelings about this game. The story (and storytelling), puzzles, exploration, lore, environment, music, art & style of the game are all awesome and what kept me playing until the end, it really is a beautiful game. The dev really has done a great job creating something novel and you can tell they've poured their heart and soul into it. However, I almost quit playing the game several times because the controls are infuriating and ruin what would have otherwise been an absolutely fantastic game; interactions can also be glitchy at times. Game says controller recommended too but only shows default keymapping for keyboard in the settings menu, that only added to my frustration with controls. I did try K & M but controller was definitely better and that's coming from someone who usually prefers K & M. Definitely recommend if you have an affinity for the ocean and it's creatures and enjoy Slavic-inspired stories, but be aware you might need to walk away, take a break and come back to it again later if you want to get through (and enjoy) the full experience.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

While i found myself very intrigued by the art style and story, to the point i even bought a controller to see if that would help with the game play, i just found the combat too frustrating to get past chapter 1.
Haunting, beautiful narrative adventure that unfortunately includes much uneven puzzling, some bad platforming, and a lot of bad combat. Too many genres in this very short game, most ruined by lack of polish and bad design. Wonky collision detection, sloppy controls, unplayable fixed camera angles, and nearly gamebreaking bugs. Do you like your character getting stuck on random patches of ground? Walking through the air while trying to drop off a ledge? Dying from falling the same height as a drop that did no damage on the previous screen? Suddenly running in one direction while navigating slowly and carefully in another? Solving puzzles, winning combat, or both while the camera stays stuck behind a wall that hides everything from view? Repeating previously solved puzzles to regain access to previously unlocked areas, because the puzzle reset when you explored somewhere else for a bit? Issues like these made the game frequently miserable. I nearly quit and uninstalled multiple times. The combat in particular was a perpetual slog, like if Ico had health bars and an ammo meter. But early on there is a segment where you just steer a sailboat down a stream through an eerie coastal mountain environment. The music slowly grows in intensity and strangeness. There are no enemies, puzzles, tightbeams, just scenery and art and emotions. This is where I decided I had to see the whole game through, and I'm very glad I did. My positive recommendation is on the strength of the narrative adventure. There is so much unforgettable imagery and music here, so many beautiful themes and environments. Emotionally and aesthetically this game is unique, sometimes even profound. From an artistic standpoint it is gold. Shame it's burdened by so much mechanical baggage from so many unnecessary genre elements. Worth playing if you can handle the problems I've described and want a strange, dark, beautiful experience soaked in interesting myth and gorgeous, otherwordly atmosphere.
Sinopsis

Gorgeous world and lore and music held back by tepid gameplay. It ranges from boring to clunky, to just plain frustrating. Melee attacks can miss because of the ridiculously tiny hitbox - but the combat itself is also so easy it borders on sleep inducing. The character has stamina but no stamina bar- all it really serves is make it so you can't run (and you only run about 20 percent faster than your very slow walk speed) 6/10 - don't expect a thrilling game - it's a glorified walking sim with fetch quests, tedious puzzles, and terrible combat. Do expect some amazing lore and visual design, and a somewhat interesting story even if the main character's arc is fairly standard.
Such a pretty and atmospheric game. I just finished chapter 1 and really enjoys it. Riddles are creative, combat not so hard not so easy too, I really like sailing. And there was dog! DOG! Best game 10/10 But more seriously, I didn't have problem with controls even when I play on keyboard, I also doesn't mind pace. It's not super slow and it allows to let's appreciate the game design and locations.
