My Playtime: 1.4h (finished the game)
Intro
Stranded In Time is a budget point-and-click game with a lot of minigames, similar to Artifex Mundi games. Pros: - Hints and skip button in case you are stuck Cons: - Objectives are not explained properly Specs Intel Core i5-9300H 2.40GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Should you buy this game?
Yes. If you are looking for a short point-and-click game with a budget, buy it on a sale.

In-Depth Review

Visuals
The background tries to offer realistic visuals, although the characters look more comical despite being drawn in the same style as the background. However, the UI looked confusing and not intuitive.
Story
The way the story was presented looks cheap, especially if you realize that it tries to mimic Artifex Mundi games. You are given a series of dialogues on the screen that you can navigate through at your own pace. There is a cutscene at the beginning, but it wasn't obvious enough—I instinctively clicked on the screen and skipped it by accident. The story is alright. It's about you that is trying to help your uncle with his archaeological findings. The dialogue mostly revolves from there with new objectives as a focus. The ending was abrupt, but it was alright.
The Game
Gameplay Stranded In Time gameplay is similar to Artifex Mundi games without the hidden object scenes. Except that the items are so hidden that it feels like you are playing a hidden object game. You need to find objects on each screen and either use them for another object or bring them to a certain location to progress the game. Sometimes, it's hard to know what to do. The game helps by giving you a button to let you know of the objectives, but it tends to be vague and it doesn't tell when it has been updated. There were times when I had finished doing everything that the game asked and didn't know what to do next, only to figure out that the objectives had changed and objects that were previously not clickable became clickable. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=820139204 I like the minigames, though. There are a lot of them with different gameplay. The sound-based one annoyed me since it relies on trial and error, but the rest are okay. I got stuck on some a few times and had to spend some time to finish them. Length and Difficulty I finished the game in 1.4h. The game is easy since there is a hint button to find where your next objective is, and it recharges quite fast. Moreover, if you are stuck on the minigames, there is always a skip button.
Conclusion
The game falls flat if you compare it with Artifex Mundi games, but it offers a lower price point compared to those. Moreover, the minigames are fun. I can recommend it if you are looking for similar games on a budget, but don't expect too much—it only covers the bare minimum.
recommend but for kids

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Stranded In Time is a story-driven point-and-click adventure that embraces a traditional design philosophy, prioritizing mystery, exploration, and puzzle-solving over modern streamlining. Developed by DQ Team in collaboration with Hidden Hallow Studio and published by Valkyrie Initiative, the game feels like a deliberate throwback to classic graphic adventures, aiming to recreate the slower, more contemplative pacing that defined the genre in earlier decades. Rather than overwhelming players with systems or spectacle, it invites them to settle into a carefully paced narrative and unravel its secrets through observation and logic. The story follows Olivia, a young woman who joins her eccentric uncle Peter and a novelist named Nick on what initially seems like a quiet exploratory trip into the woods. Their destination, an abandoned church hidden away from civilization, quickly becomes the focal point of a mystery that grows far stranger than expected. What begins as curiosity-driven exploration gradually unfolds into a tale involving unexplained phenomena and hints of time distortion. The narrative is revealed piece by piece through dialogue, environmental clues, and puzzle progression, encouraging players to engage with the world rather than passively consume the story. Gameplay adheres closely to classic point-and-click conventions. Players explore static scenes, search for interactive hotspots, collect items, and use them to solve puzzles that gate progress. The puzzles range from straightforward inventory usage to more involved logic challenges that require careful attention to detail and an understanding of the game’s internal reasoning. While many puzzles feel intuitive and rewarding, others can be more opaque, occasionally requiring trial-and-error or revisiting earlier locations once new information becomes available. This design reinforces the game’s old-school sensibilities, rewarding patience and persistence but sometimes testing player tolerance for ambiguity. Exploration is intentionally slow and methodical, with locations designed to be revisited as the story evolves. The abandoned church and its surrounding areas form the backbone of the setting, gradually revealing hidden rooms and unexpected environments as the mystery deepens. Later sections introduce more unusual locations that reinforce the game’s sci-fi undertones, adding variety without abandoning the grounded tone established early on. The lack of hand-holding allows players to progress at their own pace, though it may feel dated to those accustomed to modern adventure games that provide clearer guidance. Visually, Stranded In Time opts for a simple 2D art style that favors clarity over detail. The environments are cleanly illustrated, with enough visual distinction to make interactive elements readable, even if they lack the polish of higher-budget adventure titles. Character designs are serviceable and expressive enough to support dialogue-driven storytelling, while the overall presentation reinforces the game’s modest scope. The visuals may not be striking, but they effectively support the narrative and gameplay without becoming a distraction. Sound design and music play a subtle supporting role. Ambient audio and background music help establish mood without overpowering dialogue or exploration. While the soundtrack is not especially memorable, it complements the game’s quiet, mysterious atmosphere and reinforces its relaxed pacing. Voice acting is absent, leaving the narrative to be carried entirely through text, which aligns with the game’s retro inspiration and places greater emphasis on reading and interpretation. The game’s strengths lie in its approachable mystery and nostalgic charm. Players who enjoy unraveling a story through careful exploration and logical deduction will likely appreciate the way Stranded In Time slowly builds intrigue. Its sci-fi elements add an extra layer of curiosity, preventing the narrative from feeling too grounded or predictable. However, the experience is not without its flaws. Inconsistent puzzle clarity and occasional pacing issues can interrupt the narrative flow, especially when progress stalls due to unclear objectives. Ultimately, Stranded In Time is best suited for fans of classic point-and-click adventures who value atmosphere and storytelling over technical polish or modern convenience. It does not attempt to redefine the genre, but instead offers a respectful homage to its roots, complete with both the strengths and frustrations that come with that approach. For players willing to embrace its slower pace and traditional mechanics, it provides a satisfying and occasionally intriguing journey through a mystery shaped by curiosity, patience, and the gradual revelation of secrets hidden beyond the flow of time. Rating: 7/10
