About
Grab your pickaxe. Tighten your beard. Try not to blow up the kingdom.
Stonewards is a solo and 1-4 player co-op first-person roguelite defense game where a band of battle-ready dwarves leaves their base camp to answer distress calls from nearby dwarven kingdoms. Each mission sends you to a threatened stronghold on the edge of disaster. Your job is simple: dig fast, forge smart, and defend like your beard depends on it.
Monsters are coming. The walls are cracking. The horn is about to sound.
After each wave, rush into procedurally generated mines to gather precious metals, rare materials, and whatever shiny rocks look important enough to steal. Explore twisting tunnels, uncover hidden caves, and haul your loot back before the next attack begins.
Take too long, and your friends will be defending the kingdom one dwarf short.
And yes, they will complain about it.
A dwarf without a forge is just an angry short man with excellent facial hair.
Between waves, spend your mined resources to craft arrows, repair defenses, and unlock randomized upgrades. Stack raw strength, strange powers, tougher walls, or trust your team’s latest “brilliant” plan. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
The monsters have one goal: breach the stronghold and bring the kingdom down.
Hold the walls, cover the gates, coordinate with your crew, and use every crafted tool at your disposal. When the enemy pushes through your outer defenses, fall back, regroup, and remind them why attacking a dwarven stronghold was a terrible idea.
If the kingdom falls, the mission is over.
If you survive, drink later. Dig now.
1-4 Player Co-op & Solo - Rally the crew or go full lone-dwarf. Whether you fight alone or with up to three friends, the monsters are coming either way.
Answer the Call of the Dwarven Kingdoms - Travel from your base camp to defend nearby dwarven realms against incoming monster attacks. Each mission is a desperate stand for survival.
Mine the Mountain - When the wave ends, the clock starts. Dive into procedural mines, gather valuable resources, and get back before the next horn sounds.
Stockpile & Forge - Bring your loot back to craft arrows, repair walls, and unlock randomized roguelite upgrades that shape each run.
Hold the Line - Take your place on the walls, defend the stronghold, and stop the horde before they overwhelm the kingdom.
Dig Deep. Forge Hard. Defend Harder.

After 21 hours, I can confidently recommend Stonewards. For me, it’s around a **9/10**, especially when played with friends. The game’s biggest strength is how well it combines two very different phases. First, you explore the mine, gather resources, upgrade, and prepare. Then the wave starts and everything turns into a fight for survival. That contrast keeps the gameplay varied and prevents it from becoming boring. Even during the calmer resource-gathering phase, there is always some pressure because you want to squeeze in just one more upgrade, collect a little more, and be as prepared as possible before the next wave arrives. Stonewards really shines in co-op. You can split responsibilities, decide who focuses on what, support each other, and try to recover when things start going wrong. And when the plan completely falls apart, that’s often when the funniest moments happen. In my opinion, the game is at its best when played with a group of friends. I also really like how the roguelike elements are implemented. Choosing rings, picking different upgrades during a run, and progressing between runs all feel satisfying. One of the best feelings in the game is seeing how much stronger you become. At the beginning, even a couple of regular enemies can be a serious threat, but later, if you build and develop your character properly, you can start cutting through entire crowds. More importantly, that power growth feels earned. Progression is not only about character stats either. With every run, you personally get better at understanding the world, resource management, character roles, and different game mechanics. The game has a fairly low barrier to entry, but at the same time there is plenty of room to experiment with strategies, team compositions, and different combinations. There are still some balance issues, though. From my experience, difficulty depends heavily on your team composition. A team with the Miner, Warrior, and Archer feels very strong and can handle the game quite comfortably, while a weaker character setup can struggle even on the first difficulty. After my 21 hours, those three characters feel like the most consistently useful and impactful options. Some of the others either overlap with roles already covered by these three or do not yet provide the same level of value. I hope future updates expand the mechanics of the other characters and make team composition more varied. There are also a few technical issues. I’ve experienced occasional FPS drops, teammates getting disconnected, and characters falling through the map. However, considering that the game is still in Early Access, these problems have been relatively rare and have not significantly affected my overall experience. What I would like to see most in future updates is simply more variety: more unique mechanics for different characters, more weapons, more status effects and interesting build interactions, as well as enemies with more distinctive mechanics. The core of the game is already very solid, so now I mostly want to see more possibilities built on top of the systems that are already there. I think Stonewards can appeal to fans of tower defense, resource gathering, roguelike mechanics, and games where managing resources and dividing responsibilities within a team actually matters. And if you have a few friends who enjoy making plans together, arguing about who forgot to prepare for the next wave, and somehow surviving anyway, it is absolutely worth trying. Definitely recommended.

Great game! Fun digging mechanic, with procedurally generated mines, which always keep some level of action, as you need to get your resources on time for the next wave. Make you happy each time you discover some room in mines. Lost run. No problem. Upgrade at hub and get back in action! You'll get better each time. Played coop with another player, but feels like needs some extra player for game to be more chill. Enjoyed this alot and hope it will be able to follow it's roadmap without any problems. :)
I love to dig, I love to Tower Defense, I love to hack and slash, and I love to be able to upgrade my character stats so every time I play I feel as I am progressing forward. The core concepts of the game is a solid foundation for a really fun time both with friends and to play single player. It is an early access game so of course there are balancing issues, bugs, and other improvements as expected. Super excited to see how this game progresses towards full release. Would be cool if every single issue I've experienced was fixed yesterday tho 👉👈
Zwerge buddeln, Monster kommen, Mauern fallen und vier bärtige Idioten versuchen gleichzeitig herauszufinden, wer eigentlich die Pfeile vergessen hat
mago chupetinha 10/10
do you yearn for the mines? want take a load off after work and shoot an orc in the head? than boy do i have the game for you
I love this tower defense game for solo and co-ops with friends/randoms with dwarf theme. You defend one dwarf king when creeps invade/attack your base. When a wave of creep has be defeated, you go into a cave to farm resources for rocks and chests - the cave is found behind the king. You are dwarf with many roles: miner; warrior; archer; rogue; mage; healer; hunter; or artificer (bomber). My favorite will be miner or mage. In current patch (09.03.26), you earn gold to unlock one of the 8 classes - and other buffs. Some buffs are not available unless you complete achievement. There's no tutorial. You start digging, exploring, and selling your rocks to the dwarf npcs for better resources.
A dwarf themed digging game combined with a roguelike wave based defense of the hold that your at what's not to like? You can purchase permanent class upgrades as well as unlock unique passives and stat upgrades to find through out each run. For 10$ (USD), its honestly a steal
