It's an old type point and click game. Very atmospheric. Although you cannot die, it still gives you a little chill in your back thanks to great cut-scenes. Overall very easy, there are no difficult puzzles that would trip you up. Definitely can recommend as story itself is great.

Wow, enormous improvement from the first game. You have no idea how relieved I was when I discovered I could walk around freely and in third person! From looking at the store page I thought it was gonna be another first person room clicker, they should maybe change those pics. And the game ran perfectly for me, all I had to do was install it and press play, no extra work. The only thing that sucks is that there are some absolutely infuriating puzzles in this game. The lockpicking I spent ages on and thought I almost had it, but I always got stuck with 1 last bar. So I had to look it up and then I saw that you have to, in a PERFECT sequence, click around on the 15 different bars, 41(!) clicks total, not a single mistake. Holy moly I think it's the worst puzzle ever. Do not attempt without a guide, even with one I made a few mistakes before I finally got it correct. I still really enjoyed the game and I think it's worth it, just google the nonsensical puzzles and you'll be fine.

great game, loved it! Had a great story line and flowed real well. I can't wait to play the last game in this trilogy.

Get game running on Windows 10/11: Start out by opening registry editor by typing regedit into the search bar then go to the following location - Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers right click anywhere blank and add a new string value by typeing in the exact location you installed the game for example - G:\games\Still Life\StillLife.exe after that's done right click on what you created and click modify. In the Value data box type NT4SP5, save and close. Then, find the game exe (usually something like program files 86/steam/stamapps/common/StillLife) right click stilllife.exe, select properties. Click compatibility check run in compatibility for windows xp (sp3) check disable fullscreen optimizations check run as admin apply OK After all that, game runs great. A nostalgic classic.

It is more of a point and click with a detective theme than a mystery game. Some of the puzzles were too frustrating for me. In my time with it, the story, characters and world didn't feel compelling at all. The experience is very linear, and many of your tasks feel like housechores or busywork, again not very compelling. I played this solo at the same time that my partner did, and both of our games ran into technical issues that required different solutions to make the game run. What's here is playable and fine, but very bland indeed. I can't recommend this experience.

Unfortunately I don't think I can recommend this game in general. But if you think you might like it and it's $1.19 like I bought it for, then I'd give it a try. I do have some warnings though: This game had some interesting, rewarding puzzles in it, and some very, very frustrating puzzles. The [spoiler]cookie[/spoiler] puzzle in particular was awful. To solve it, [spoiler]you have to use your own knowledge of how cookies are made and basically guess the recipe. I scoured the house for hints, only to have to look up the answer. I'm not really a fan of having to use outside knowledge like that, especially when there's no indication that you have to do this, and the cookies have absolutely nothing to do with the plot anyways![/spoiler] Also, the [spoiler]lockpick[/spoiler] puzzle was confusing as hell, even with the help the game gave. But that could be due to my own inability to solve it. As for the story, it was mostly an enjoyable mystery that made me want to keep playing to figure it out. Unfortunately, [spoiler]the game builds up to the climax, only for it to end without actually resolving the mystery. It was completely disappointing.[/spoiler] I had a lot of good fun playing it, but it really broke down at the end and left a bitter taste in my mouth, as much as I liked the rest of the game.

One of my favorite adventure games ever. Inspired by the mood and music of Seven, with an overlapping story from 80 years earlier that is decidedly Jack The Ripper-esque. The static prerendered backgrounds hold up well (Think Resident Evil REmake) the voice acting is good, the story is good, the entire game can be played on two mouse buttons (with the space bar to skip dialogue) and nails the classic point n click adventure format without bogging the player down in tedious or obtuse puzzles. 5 out of 5.

The Plot was good and the background art was great! I love the old style background designs like FF7 and this. :)
