About
Get ready to explore, discover and interact with a multitude of species as you journey among the stars. Forge a galactic empire by sending out science ships to survey and explore, while construction ships build stations around newly discovered planets. Discover buried treasures and galactic wonders as you spin a direction for your society, creating limitations and evolutions for your explorers. Alliances will form and wars will be declared.
Like all our Grand Strategy games, the adventure evolves with time. Because free updates are a part of any active Paradox game, you can continue to grow and expand your empire with new technologies and capabilities. What will you find beyond the stars? Only you can answer that.
Stellaris now includes the base game, three expansion packs, and a collection of digital goods.
Stellaris: Chart a vast, procedurally generated galaxy where every star system holds a new mystery to uncover or an alien civilization to encounter. Forge a unique empire: from your first warp jump to galactic domination, you decide whether the universe remembers you as a benevolent pioneer or a relentless conqueror.
Utopia: Unlock the full potential of your empire with this expansion focused on the evolution of society. Whether you're building mega-structures or ascending to a higher plane of existence, Utopia helps you create a future that’s as bright as the stars themselves.
Synthetic Dawn Story Pack: Take command of a Machine Empire and reshape the galaxy in your own image. Will you lead your mechanical creations to peaceful coexistence, or will the rise of synthetic life spell the end for organics?
Humanoids Species Pack: the most-played phenotype now gains more variety with unique civics and a new origin. Along with their own unique ship class, new portraits, and more, there’s never been a better time to explore the future of humanity.
And on top of this, the Digital Collector’s Book, a Signed Wallpaper, a Unique Forum Avatar and Icon!
Every game begins with a civilization that has just discovered the means to travel between stars and is ready to explore the galaxy. Have your science ships survey and explore anomalies, leading you into a myriad of quests, introducing strange worlds with even stranger stories and discoveries that may completely change your outcome.
With characteristically complex unique planets and celestial bodies, you will enter a whirlwind of spectacles in a highly detailed universe.
Through customization and procedural generation, you will encounter infinitely varied races. Choose positive or negative traits, specific ideologies, limitations, evolutions or anything you can imagine. Interact with others through the advanced diplomacy system. Diplomacy is key in a proper grand strategy adventure. Adjust your strategy to your situation through negotiation and skill.
An eternal cycle of war, diplomacy, suspicions and alliances await you. Defend or attack with fully customizable war fleets, where adaptation is the key to victory. Choose from an array of complex technologies when designing and customizing your ships with the complex ship designer. You have a multitude of capabilities to choose from to meet the unknown quests that await.
Grow and expand your empire with thousands of randomly generated planet types, galaxies, quests and monsters lurking in space.
Customize your Empire! The characters you choose, be it a murderous mushroom society or an engineering reptile race, can be customized with traits like ethics, type of technology, form of preferred space travel, type of habitat, philosophies and more. The direction of the game is based on your choices.

ANOMALY DETECTED: The Paradox Loop Science Officer Xirmian reports a disturbing discovery on the lifeless tomb world of P-3X. Buried beneath layers of oxidized silicon, the crew of the ISS Sunk Cost Fallacy has unearthed a functional, two-dimensional temporal window running a staggering, universe-spanning simulation designated "STELLARIS (Build v4.4)." Our researchers are baffled by the simulation's operational parameters. It appears to simulate an entire galaxy, commanded by an omnipotent, unseen entity whose primary objective is extreme micro-management. According to the data logs, this entity will spend standard centuries meticulously editing the genetic code of aquatic space geckos, only to immediately enslave them upon discovering a slightly more efficient species of lithoid rock-people. The anomaly exhibits several highly concerning paradoxes: The Temporal Slowdown: As the simulated galaxy becomes more populated, the very fabric of space-time decays into an agonizing crawl. The logs indicate the omnipotent entity routinely solves this "lag" by constructing a colossal superweapon and shattering heavily populated worlds — not out of malice or strategic necessity, but simply to reduce the simulation's processing load. Our scientists have dubbed this phenomenon "Genocide by Framerate." The Tribute Cycle: To experience new dimensions of reality within the simulation — such as constructing a Dyson Sphere, participating in galactic espionage, or experiencing a machine uprising — the entity is forced to periodically sacrifice localized currency to an extra-dimensional collective known only as "The Developers." The Abandonment Protocol: Curiously, almost none of these simulated universes ever reach their natural conclusion. Right around the simulated year 2350, when the endgame crisis approaches and the micromanagement becomes unbearable, the god-entity abruptly abandons the universe out of sheer boredom. It then instantly sparks a brand new Big Bang just to try a "Tall Mega-Corp" build. Xirmian notes that the simulation is highly addictive, despite consisting mostly of staring at colored spreadsheets, managing unemployed clerks on newly conquered habitats, and completely ignoring the mandates of the Galactic Community.
Stellaris, the best game that never works in Multi-player.... While the game play civization building is fun, deep and engaging... the Co-oP of this game is Opt out... want to play with mods... you better have a deep amount of patients cause things are going to unstable and saves seem to become corrupted even if you are using a older version of the game... Update to kill stability... update to kill mods... update to uninstall....
I wish I could still recommend this game. It truly is amazing. Unfortunately it is plague by insane DLC practice, which to some extent I can understand since they're still developping the game so often with so much content, but it does feel it's gotten a bit out of control. In addition to that, with all these DLC come all sorts of bugs and issues. As with most other players, I come back to this game every so often after a few months or a year has passed and check out what's new and try things out. The past 3 times I've done this now I've had my game completely ruined by bugs that just prevent my empire from doing the basic thing it's supposed to do and it's gotten very tiring. Last time I tried playing some sort of genocide empire which I had never done and was excited to try, only to realize the very core mechanic of purging pops for resources and science didn't work at all and the conquered pops I was supposed to be genociding were crushing my economy instead. Now recently trying out the shroud forged, in two games now whenever I reach a certain stage of the game half of my own species suddenly gets turned into slaves and produce nothing, once again crushing my economy and my desire to play. The game has too much going on. There's a lot of great stuff here but because of the constant drive to create DLC and profits the game has had years and years of stuff shoved into it and the bugs continue to pile up as a result. The game also lacks any ability for a new player to get into it reasonably. One of the most basic things that the game doesn't really tell you or provide any warnings about ends up ruining almost every players first attempt into the game. Managing pops, workers, and resources. It's so simple and fundamental but anyone who's ever played strategy games before often fall into the trap of "oh I need more energy, let me make more energy districts and buildings to solve that" not realizing they don't have the pops to fill those jobs and then plummet their energy crisis further due to the upkeep they've just now added. It's something so simple but I've had to explain this to every friend who has tried the game whenever their economy goes to crap because it's so easy to gloss over and nothing warns you. Anyways long rant. I love the game but I just can never seem to play it. There's all these damn little bugs and it only takes one minor thing to just destroy your whole run. It's incredibly frustrating.
It's buggy. It's too unnecessarily complicated. The games are long and are won or lost really early in the process.
The new nomad features are entirely broken. Not only are they chronically underpowerd and unable to properly defend themself, the sheild debug on their mothership is dumb, the influence cost for everything is chronic and makes them horrifically unscalable, and the new automation mechanics, whilst better than the old dynamics are broken and sent me directly into the enemy. Just dumb, fix it, and test stuff before release, it's not hard!!!

I did not realize this game is so addicting.
