Steins;Gate:
Steins;Gate Steins;Gate 0
EI Psy Kongroo!

I am always looking for you.
The voice quality sounds really bad and compressed. I've been excited to try this out I'll admit, albeit a little skeptical due to the Elite script. I played for a little under two hours, just so I'm in the refund window since I might end up doing that. But the voices man, it sounds so low quality, and it seems highly compressed, in a visual novel I do not see why you would do such a thing just to save a gigabyte or two, an extra gigabyte wouldn't have killed the game storage wise, but for somereason the voice quality is worse then the original game? Just to save on some space? Come on, Even in some of the earlier YouTube clips it didn't sound this bad. Beside that, from what I did see, the art is nice, and the animations are fun, and even with the bad compression, I love the direction on some of the voice acting from what I heard, Okabe is a standout as always. I'd love to play more, and I might, but at this current moment, these issues are enough to make me really want to refund the game, especially with this price tag, I'm paying this much, and I get these types of issues? With this price I'd expect to have a completely smooth experience. I hate to give one of my favourite stories a negative review, but, this is a stupid issue. I'll change my review if it ever get's fixed, but I find this to honestly be a pathetic issue that shouldn't have even happened. Also, fix the stupid 4 line text issue, why are you shipping a game with such an ugly issue?
My first experience with Steins;Gate was on the PS Vita a while ago and I have revisited the story in different ways through the anime and PC version. So far, I would say RE:BOOT is my second-favorite way to experience the story after the original partly because I experienced the original completely blind. PC gives you access to pretty much every version, so it is a bit harder to recommend RE:BOOT here but for modern consoles, I do think this is the best way to experience the VN.
Why I enjoy it
The new art and CGs are incredibly detailed and gorgeous. I still really like the art style of the original VN, S;G LBP and S;G 0, but RE:BOOT goes in a very different art direction, which makes replaying the story feel much fresher. The new Emote system is also really well implemented. The sprites are animated in a way that really shows each character's mannerisms and emotions. I am honestly very surprised and impressed with the overall presentation.
A couple of things to note

There are some minor technical issues. Sometimes the text gets compressed and the game shows controller button prompts even when I am using a keyboard.
Yes, some content from the original VN is cut. However, I think the importance of those cuts is a bit overstated. The major plot points and overall feel of the original are still here. The most noticeable cuts are part of one heroine's route involving an NPC along with some of the protagonist's inner dialogue and struggles. Saying that 30 percent of the script was cut makes it sound more severe than it actually feels while playing.

Overall
The price is a bit steep for the third installment of the VN, but I think there is still a lot to enjoy here, both for fans and newcomers. If you are new to the series and have the money to spare, I think RE:BOOT is a fantastic way to start. If price is your main deterrent, I would wait for a sale or pick up the original VN. And no, I do not think this is an inferior version of the VN. For newcomers who are hesitant to try it, there is a reason S;G has been ported, remade, and adapted into anime multiple times. It is still one of the best experiences that visual novel as a medium has to offer.
Great Game but considering how little it adds compared to the original Steins;Gate story-wise, (it adds one 1-2 hour ending, and a Steins;Gate 0 reference scene) and how expensive it is. you're better off getting the original for 5$ on sale. However, I do think it is an upgrade (not that big considering that I don't think Steins;Gate needed a remake anyway) if you disregard the price. It really pains me to give a negative review considering how pretty the new art is, how cool the new character emotes are, and how much I personally love Steins;Gate and the Sci-Adv games, but I can't help but feel like it was such a shame that they did this rather than putting all that effort into a new Steins;Gate story/spinoff
Steins;Gate Reboot asks the evergreen question of "Should we really remake a game that has been remade before?" and runs with it, except it is actually a solid entry. Please keep in mind that I have never played Elite, so I can only put Reboot next to the original - and it's done a splendid job. The artwork is lovely, and as much as I love the wonkiness of the original art, Reboot's artstyle grows on you quickly. I won't deny that some CGs had wilder (and better) compositions, meanwhile their proportions were off, whereas Reboot has the proportions down but loses some of the action. Regardless, it looks great. And the music blows the original out of the water, frankly. I associate these songs with some highly emotional scenes and they get me time and time again. The script is shorter than the OG, if you were to put them right next to each other you could argue there might be something getting lost, but I can't agree. Endless exposition does not make a better game, even if it features our favorite chuuni-- I mean, MAD SCIENTIST. It's snappy, it doesn't linger and we even get a new ending that hadn't been featured before! This might just be an issue on my end, but the game does not like it when you disconnect a controller during playtime, instant crash, but the quicksaves are everywhere so I never lost much. And save often you should do - while it is easier to grab the endings and achievements than in the OG you still need to use the phone a lot, so make it a habit to whip it out often. If you are a long-time fan or someone looking to get into Steins;Gate, or the SciAdv series overall, I think this is a solid entry. For the longtime fans, a sense of completion, seeing how much huke's art has improved over the years and getting to see where it all began; and for new soon-to-be fans to see HOUOUIN KYOUMA in his glory.
Completing the game confirmed what I had thought ever since it was announced two years ago: the only reason this remake exists is to capitalize on nostalgia and the series' popularity, given MAGES' financial situation. I didn't expect significant plot changes and, all things considered, I'm glad there weren't any; I believe the story is perfect as it is, and I feared they might somehow ruin it. Since this series is really important to me personally, I decided to buy the game at full price to play it right at launch, and I really enjoyed revisiting the atmosphere of 2010 Akihabara and the Future Gadget Laboratory. I won't lie, the new visuals feel a bit odd, mainly due to them being brighter when compared to the original and I’m not personally a fan of Live2D; however, I got used to it as the game progressed. The art style has changed significantly, and many beautiful new CGs have been added so, while the original retains its charm and remains my preference, the new visuals look pretty nice too. The voice acting is pretty good but sometimes the audio quality drops for some reason so eh, i felt as some scenes conveyed less emotion or energy than the original, but given that the title came out nearly twenty years ago, it's understandable. The main tracks are the same as in the 2009 version, with the exception of the BGM, which was remastered by Takeshi ♥♥♥ himself. I have to admit I would have liked to hear a few new tracks from Kanako Ito or PHANTASM, though perhaps that might not have been possible. Regardless, I think this is better than relying on a random singer to just churn out new songs half-assedly. So, do I recommend this game to newcomers looking to get into the series? Not really: the price isn't worth it, and the original remains the best way to experience the story, given that some text was cut in this version (and no technovision ( ̄ヘ ̄;) ). Also, I wouldn't recommend buying the game at full price if you're just interested in Moeka's new route, since it lasts like 30min being a "bad" ending and all, just listen to the drama cd imo. I had fun playing the game, but I'd say you aren't missing out on anything special if you decide not to 乁 ˘ o ˘ ㄏ. tbh just wait for the sale It was nice seeing my wife again in the year of our lord 2026 desu
