Pump and Dump that stopped receiving updates 8 years and, Dev decided to symbolically slap a 1.0 on this piece of ♥♥♥♥. Keep your expectations VERY low even for free...

Holy cow this game's rough This should NOT be a 1.0 release No signs of a tutorial, core mechanics like moving something that's already placed are either missing or hidden behind 3 menus and a frantic look at the keybindings, nothing to ease you into the game, it just drops you right into the deep end with no idea what to do or how to do it I would say give it a year or so, but I'm not sure if that'll help if they're calling this a 1.0 full release state
User-unfriendly game. Spent an hour and a half trying to figure out basic operation and controls. Minor rudimentary success getting mining laser to fire before it and ship and crew was destroyed. Pretty much a pointless game. Not worth even the free price. Delete delete delete.
I originally gave this game a negative review after 20mins of pulling my hair out. It's actually a fun little game when you learn it. But it still deserves the negative review for two reasons. 1) No tutorial or explanation at all. You have to google and youtube everything. 2) It's abandonware. Dev doesn't work on the game and it has a couple annoying bugs. Such as the interface for interacting with other ships keeps applying the UI scaling every time it opens so it grows to cover the whole screen. Or that your spacemen will refuse any orders if they are thirsty or hungry, even if it was one to plug the hole in the ship to prevent their death from lack of oxygen. They would rather suffocate waiting for access to water than to fix the hole. You also can't build life support after you have a hole in your ship, you need it first, which is dumb because they're all in spacesuits and should just be able to enter the ship with the space suit on. Lots of little stupid things like that. If you care to learn via forums and youtube and can save often and ignore the bugs, it's an addicting little game loop. Dev gave up when so close to gold.
Amazing game, how is this free?
♥♥♥♥ this game Things it has taught me: - Save game every second - Repair everything all the time - Free game does not mean good game
amazing game and makes me want SPACESLOG to be finished even sooner bc its based on this
dosent make any sence, your crew will randomly die, there is no information about anything!!! the ship it starts u with cant even support the people in it. play rimworld insted this game is HORRIBLE....after some obvious rage quitting and quite a bit of frustration..... this game is pretty good, there NEEDS to be a basic tutorial, but once you get the ropes its pretty simple. main game loop is just minning space rocks, in between or during an trader visiting or a pirate attack. pretty simple but addicting
Look, I've got to make this clear: I hate this game, I hate it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much I think I might be okay with the notion of genocide so long as it took out the developers. That being said, I can't stop playing it. It's a rogue-like, though it does allow for the option of save scumming, but I have too much foolish pride to allow me to do that. It's not a complex game, and like most rogue-likes, the RNGod has far too much say in how your game goes. I won it, though, despite there being no definition of winning, I reached the point where the RNGod couldn't defeat me. I could happily thumb my nose, knowing that my ship could withstand any test thrown at it. I thought I was free. I had done it, I could move on with my life. I was wrong. Soon enough, I was looking through my library, thinking, "What shall I play today?". I spotted Starship Theory, and thought, "I wonder if I could do it better?". I did...but that thought kept ahold of me....Could I do it better yet? I've lost track. I keep doing it. I keep trying. I keep losing. I keep starting a new game. If you have anything else in your life, don't play this game. Go, kiss you Significant Other, play with your children (If you have them.), don't let this game in...it will dominate you. If you're like me though... Play it...become like me....let me know I'm not alone. I'm sure I can do it right this time.
