We found so much in the stars! I had a wonderful time playing and streaming Starseeker as part of an early creator look from Devolver Digital! The game does a great job of capturing the feel of the universe of Astroneer! The gameplay loop is fun. Get missions, gear up, head to surface, do mission objectives, return to station, turn in mission objectives, get better gear, repeat. The graphics and sound all fit perfect for the world. Super excited to see more as SES expands the content in Early Access!
they have a free pride selection of helmets this is the best game
I got to play the test the week prior to its release. I loved it quite a bit. It has its difficulties for sure, especially when you're a solo player, but it's always nice to have an extra medi-gel available. I love the game, it's a lot of fun.
nest game ever!!!!
As matter of introduction, I played during the invite-only beta and found a plethora of bugs. Upon finding them, I reported them. Come to today and those bugs I reported have been fixed. The game is still in development, and it's got a lot of stuff it still needs to add and fix, but the fact it's making the progress it is makes me excited. For context, I am an Astroneer enjoyer. I've played a LOT of that game, and it's one of the few games I've gone back to play even after I've finished it. Progression in Astroneer felt very exciting to me, so when I heard the creators of Astroneer were making a... sorta MMO-styled game, I was above the moon for it. I didn't know what to expect going in, but the game is definitely a lot of fun with friends. How often I'd have to go rescue a friend who fell off a cliff or get mauled by enemies, while at the same time, finishing up my tasks on the planet. Positives: - One of the biggest things I find value in now-a-days with a lot of games is that the developers do listen to feedback. - Being able to go down on missions and deal with challenges is a fun concept that I truly enjoy. It feels unique in how it was executed and also gives a sense of wonder. - The game does have a lot of potential. I can see many types of maps, mission types, enemies, etc. coming out of production to make the game feel more whole. Negatives: -This game is certainly one you'd want to play with others, as playing it solo definitely has a similar feel to Astroneer, but a lot more hollow. -It is still in early access. This would mean that, yes, there will be bugs, the game will feel a bit empty, and the content you're given won't give hours of playtime just yet. It's really hard to give a proper review to the game as it is now, but I do look forward to how it develops and hope to see more people enjoying the game as well.
Frankly, my friend and I are addicted to this game. Yes, this is not Astroneer. System Era clearly said as much from the very beginning. I don't understand the players who are complaining about this game not having base building and so on. This was never advertised. What it was advertised as is a game for Astroneer players exactly like me: someone who constantly wandered off on impromptu "expeditions", wanting to explore biomes, open EXO Research Aid containers, find cool stuff like portable smelters or QT-RTGs. Someone who really enjoyed the game's whimsical aesthetics and lore, and was hoping it would get developed further. And I'm getting exactly what I wanted out of this game! Even though this is still in very early access and only has one planet, Tephra, with two regions, there's already so much to do and experiment with. Different tools combine in unexpected ways, creating lots of funny opportunities to exploit local wildlife (don't worry, it deserves it for being so unrelentingly hostile - especially the opportunistic Carrotlings). We constantly rush to redeploy ASAP and get more things done. The game is already fun solo, but of course it really shines if you're in a team of at least two - you can heal each other, complete each other's missions to dramatically speed progress, and yes, pass items to each other with zero restrictions. So if your friend is lucky enough to have a spare Glider or a useful mod, they can just give it to you - no level requirements, no "bound" items, just drop and take. In general, they got so many things right about co-op in this, it's clear this was made by people who were utterly sick of other games making getting it frustratingly wrong, and that is really promising. There are minor bugs, but I mean really minor. One of my stickers (the dancing emote one) isn't tracking right it seems, and rarely I can get stuck on the loading screen when leaving the mission - not an issue since rewards are immediately committed on pressing "Launch" on extraction, and upon restarting the game after force closing it I load back onto the station with the mission debrief screen and all my loot and progress preserved. Everything else is shockingly polished, especially for an early access game and especially seeing how many bugs Astroneer still has, it's almost like this is made by a different System Era. Performance is... surprisingly decent. This is UE5, but it seemingly doesn't do any upscaling (at least there are no settings for it anywhere) and yet on a 3060 Ti I get 80-100 fps at 1440p (with drops to 60 in some areas) and low-medium settings (textures on high). Astroneer looks sharper most of the time (other reviews say it's because this uses forced TAA, which I'm definitely disappointed by, and hope to see other options quickly), and this is what I'd like to see in this game as well, but overall performance is in a much better state than I expected at launch. TAA BLUR WORKAROUND: for now, I've set Nvidia Control Panel sharpening for this game to 100% and it looks much, much more pleasant. Something that needs to be pointed out separately: the movement is AMAZING in this game. You get a dash mod practically right away, you can roll, climb walls, get a glider, swim, get a boosted jump - it makes exploring really fast and fun, way better than Astroneer that felt clunky even on a hoverboard. Oh, and if you're stuck somewhere, you still have the terrain tool - got a mountain in front of you that you can't be bothered to go around (or because the way around is blocked by hostile animals)? Just dig a tunnel through it! I can't recommend this game enough if you're into co-op fun and like emergent gameplay. Don't listen to the negative reviews, they're clearly expecting the game to be something completely different and that's utterly unreasonable. I really hope System Era continues working on it and adding more content, because the potential is massive. And if you just want to play Astroneer, then go and play Astroneer, it's still in active development and will most likely get even more content over time - Starseeker isn't and doesn't need to be Astroneer 2, it is its own thing and it excels at what it offers.
