So, you’re the new Boss? Seems like every year I get a new entrepreneur to babysit. It takes more than dreams to build a skyscraper! You need to track stocks, utilities, prestige—ah who am I kidding? You're rich, you can do whatever you want. Go on, build rockets into it like the last clown did.

StarScraper has a lot of great ideas but just needs a lot more work. I would not recommend it in its present form unless the dev pushes a series of updates. The UI is very sluggish and there's way too much clicking to switch between the building and the maintenance mode in the top left menu's first option. It just gets annoying after a while. The left click button does absolutely nothing on the various rooms and it would be nice to see some occupancy/usage stats, revenue and total visitors etc. The Steam achievements don't work and overall the game just pales in comparison to a Sim Tower. I'm sure that over time it will likely improve but for now I'm just looking forward to some upcoming updates to address some fundamentals.
I've always wanted to play a more relaxing version of Sim Tower and Project Highrise. So naturally, StarScraper caught my eye even before launch. So I bought it right after. And oh boy, this game just hits the spot for me! Despite its bugs, I've been able to chill after work by playing StarScraper. And since the passionate developers seem to be keen on ironing out the kinks, I'm confident that this game will get polished. Recommended.
Its a towerbuilding game. Gameplay is fairly repetative. And that is to be expected. Its all about finding those small tweaks which make this tower the greatest tower and thats how its supposed to be. So good on the dev for that. What I have never felt the need for however is manual maintence of my tower. This imo is something which needs to be fixed right away. It has much the same feel to it as Simtower, Ytower or even project highrise. But I dont feel like it adds anything to the mix. In fact due to the fact I have to manually do maintence I would say quality of life has gone down. I dont like the UI. I might be alone in that or it might just take some time getting used to. Price is as Im writing this (11.06.21) 145 NOK. Which is somewhere between 10 & 15 €. That feels a bit too steep. All in all at this point in time I dont think I could recommend it. More so at this price point. If you love towersims and can get it on a sale? Sure go ahead. Somewhere between a 3 & 4 if I were to toss a dice.
Building tower sim + graphics - more modes = Keep on building up and up with variety of rooms. Manage multiple layers of building management, income, costs and stocks. Increase fame to unlock rooms. StarScraper is a fun and charming game about building your own tower. Inspired by games like SimTower and Project Highrise, you start with a blank building, $50,000 cash, and your imagination. Selecting from a group of categories such as food, residential, business, education and medical, you grow your tower and attach visitors. As the name suggests, you can build until you reach the stars! Remember to place a fire extinguisher in case of a fire and an elevator so your people can get around! You unlock more rooms as your fame increases and some require different room to be near. Each room has expenses that you must manage, such as water and electric but it's not complicated. Each visitor has a Like, Dislike, and Name for added flavor. You can even edit them. There is a stock market if you feel like weighing the risk/reward, otherwise you collect money as people visit your tower. PRO Simple, easy to understand gameplay Relaxing, charming vibe Lots of potential through patches and/or Workshop support Achievements Captures the vibe/feeling of that era of Tower building games. I encountered no bugs or glitches while playing. CONS Simple gameplay. They do have a Speedrun Tower for an added challenge but no additional scenarios as of this review. Graphics look like they came from the early 00s. To me that help captures the feeling of those Tower building games of that era. Only a con if you are someone who requires great graphics to enjoy a game. Price can be a bit steep for the content. As it stands, the game is worth $9-$15. I could only justify the $19.99 price if you really enjoy Tower management games. Also sounds like it came from that era. The camera doesn't lock at times, such as when trying to save but will lock at other times, like when trying to view the stats of your tower. A few minor cons. You have to cycle through the different speeds instead of being able to go back. Some modes lock the camera, such as when you are seeing the stats of your rooms. That requires you to get into place before switching to that mode. The camera is sensitive too but that's due to how tall you can make your tower. If you are someone who grew up playing Tower games like the aforementioned SimTower or Project Highrise or you enjoy new development games like Rimworld, Cities Skyline, or Startup Company, you should think about giving StarScraper a try. It's got a charming vibe about it, with the little text and descriptions that you can tell someone had fun writing. Something I thought was cute was that you speed up time by clicking on a coffee. You also get messages across the top of the screen, such as when the Spring Festival begins. I would like to see the developers continue working on the game and introduce scenarios, like managing a tower that's can only be offices or maybe a education-focus tower. Disasters like earthquakes, bugs, or aliens would be a cool addition too. I do want to thank the developers, Mitchell Garrett, Jonathan K-Q and the Publisher, Rosae Ex Ludis for providing me with a Review Copy. I will definitely be watching this game.
Personally, I've been waiting for this game to release for quite a bit. So far I find the game rather charming and fun. However, the game also feels a bit unfinished. There is SOO much potential and I am excited to see what kind of things the Devs will put into the game. Pros: - Very cute - Nice music - Visually appealing - The addition of stocks is very cool - Fast paced Cons: - Feels unfinished - Lack of a tutorial - Some features can use a bit of clarification.. Things I suggest: - Starting on average speed is probably better than starting on fast speed when you create a new tower. - Clarification on the third tool towards the left (pink one with the dudes). I really didn't understand its purpose. - Not sure if this is just something I haven't discovered, but I'd like the ability to either move or destroy rooms. It kind of sucks when you accidentally place a room on the wrong spot and your OCD goes all cray cray. - A tutorial!! Overall I would recommend this for players looking for something new and interesting. If you are looking for a game to be committed to, I'd suggest waiting until the game matures a bit and then getting the game. I will be continuing to play this game on my free time. :)
--Very little replay value or interesting decision-making. The return on investment from offices and server farms is staggering, and requires no support beyond fire systems. Playing the game as intended is miserable. If you ever build a residential unit or hotel or retail (why!) you need to worry about boilers, trash collection, ambiance/architecture, leasing offices/space, foot traffic, noise, required support buildings, and revenue figures low enough to make fire systems hard to sustain. The building synergies and noise are particularly frustrating to work around -- it's really hard to do a cluster of libraries without them causing enough noise to annoy each other. Like, why are libraries causing noise pollution? Were the 10 things we needed to keep track of not enough? --The graphics feel primitive for a category where players usually do a lot of replay. --Very little progression through the game. You start with the second-best building in the game (the office). Don't waste any time, spam out as many as you can in a checkerboard pattern of offices and empty space. On a third playthrough, I had hundreds of server farms within 2 hours. Nothing else seems to work well besides offices and server farms. UPDATE: they've since patched this out to force you to play the game as intended, but the game as intended is not the best.
This is a nifty tower sim. The music is catchy and it's surprisingly addictive.
I have been following this game for a while on social media and had high hopes for the game. Unfortunately after buying the game i feel as though i had my hopes up too high. I feel as though the game was released too soon. The game very much does have potential to become a great game but at the moment i would not be able to recommend the game in the state that it is currently.
