About

In Starbound, you create your own story - there’s no wrong way to play! You may choose to save the universe from the forces that destroyed your home, uncovering greater galactic mysteries in the process, or you may wish to forego a heroic journey entirely in favor of colonizing uncharted planets.

Settle down and farm the land, become an intergalactic landlord, hop from planet to planet collecting rare creatures, or delve into dangerous dungeons and lay claim to extraordinary treasures.
Discover ancient temples and modern metropolises, trees with eyes, and mischievous penguins. Make use of hundreds of materials and over two thousand objects to build a sleepy secluded cabin in the woods, a medieval castle, underwater arcade, or even a space station.

Starbound has been built from the ground up to be multiplayer and easily moddable. You have the tools to make the universe your own and modify the game to suit your play style - add new items, races, planet types, dungeons, and quests - the possibilities are limitless.

Add-ons
Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; Xbox, GOG publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.
Updates
Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

Reviews
Loved the game when I bought it. I suppose I will always have a pirated copy of the old version if I ever want to play so thats cool. Not a fan of the game anymore they changed to much of it and I did not like the direction they went. No more incomplete alpha games anymore for me.
very fun, its like terraria but with a procedurely generated galaxy with spaceship travel

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

가게에 들어가서 첫맛은 맹숭한가 싶었는데 계속 먹다보니 진국이라 단골이 되겠다 다짐하고 뒤돌아봤더니 이미 사장은 죽고 없는 그런 느낌의 게임
its fun yes, however with and without mods it has begun to lag super badly. tried everything from uninstalling the mods (draconis, full dragon draconis, lamia, full snake lamia, and frackin) and even verifying the game but it lags redicuosly hard. idk what to do anymore and im really starting to think that maybe i shouldnt play anymore even though i absolutly love this game
terraria if it were in space and was worse
I played through this using steam family share. So first impressions. Visuals are lovely with a clear amount of effort in love with each environment and sprite. Controls are a little spotting, but after a bit i got used to them. Negatives The dialogue. Specifically quest based dialogue. You can completely and accidentally miss vital information tied to a quest as the dialogue by default is automatic. This happened to me as i was attacked by an enemy, when i was told where to find a quest item. Perhaps a good way to counter this issue is a dialogue log for the player, or have the quest info update to display said info. I looked it up online and the location, just didn't exist in my world. Which means I was going to have to grind with no upgrades or anything. I'm not against a grind, but a grind caused by the seed not spawning a vital area that every guide online tells you to go???? ♥♥♥♥ that.
extremelly shallow, not even controls feel satisfying
The only complaint I have about this game is a very slow memory leak, specifically on the macOS build. It plays wonderfully on macOS, PC, and Linux, and I've bought it both on Steam and GOG. 20/10 would recommend. Has a good modding scene, great community wiki, and is basically Terraria set in Sci-Fi.
