does not work w/ windows 11. where is sfc 2 and orion pirates?

Doesn't work on Windows 11, even with all the proposed fixes offered on community forums. I was really excited to play this game again, assuming it was on Steam because it had been ported over with compatibility for modern systems. Sadly, not so. I expect this kind of thing from GOG, but not Steam. Highly disappointed,

And not from Steam. Also set Compatibility to Windows XP (Service Pack 3) Reduce color mode to 8-b (256) color

This is like a 20+ year old game. I loved it but it does not run well or at all on my modern system.

I played hundreds if not a thousand hours of SFC back in the day -- and so pleased to see it still alive and well here! For all the talk about Windows 10 or whatever not working: pfft.... I'm on Mint Linux, and this runs like a champ with zero issues. I do wish that SFC: Orion Pirates or Empires at War will come out on Steam.... to get more ships and more empires, but just having this here and now (ca. 2025) makes me very very happy.

A thirty year old game that still is fun if you are a ST Starfleet fan, and want to waste some time.

Follow the directions under other posts about making it work on windows 10, its one value change in one readme file, its very simple. also remember that older games do not auto save, and that they can be glitchy. the first thing you should do is either play the Federation or Klingon campaigns. Only those campaigns have full game tutorials. after that have fun!

I love this game so much! I wish they would release Fleet Command 2 w/ the Orion Pirates expansion!! and many more star trek games!!

its old but still enjoyable and the game lets you choose which faction you want to fight for which makes it a good game for longevity

Missiles are way too overpowered and ruin the gameplay. They have a 360 degree fire arc, take no power to charge and have a way higher hit ratio then for example photon torpedo's. Defenses against missiles are easily overwhelmed and also cost energy. On paper missiles have limited ammunition but in practice it's cheap to stock up on them.
