Difficulty : 1.5/5 (Easy) Global : 1.5/5 (Decent) Curator page : Anokturnus Gravity is a classic physics-based puzzle game, you place obstacles and the goal is to make something hit the red button in the level. Except for a few levels at the very end (level 100 is a bit absurd but doable), the game is easy and never requires perfect setups. I've really nothing more to say, there are no special mechanics or anything really noteworthy. If you like this kind of game, you'll have fun with Gravity but nothing groundbreaking.
TLDR A very basic physics game, building structures to make objects push a button, 100 simple levels. [5/20⭐, 4h🏅, 2/5💡] Context Gravity is a physics-based puzzle game about placing blocks to make sure spawning objects reach a target. It can be seen in the style of The Incredible Machine (or more recent incarnations Crazy Machines) but limited to one kind of object. In fact, the game is very limited in terms of gameplay, and doesn’t really feel like a fully-fledged game. Writing There is no plot, you’re just given a list of puzzles to solve. Aesthetics The visuals of the game (essentially scaffolds on top of a blueprint) are very rudimentary, and the soundtrack (comprised by about 3 tracks) felt repetitive and a bit intrusive. Gameplay In every level, an object (either a ball or self-propelled car) is spawned which must be led to eventually push a button. To achieve this, you place objects in the map. The available objects vary from level to level, but they are limited to blocks of different shapes, which quickly makes the gameplay feel repetitive. Level design was often contrived just for the sake of it, not really allowing for the exploration of alternative solutions; other times it just felt heavy-handed, like the appearance of “red zones” where object placement is forbidden. In the end, there were few levels that were not straightforward. One feature I found interesting is that the physics engine is active during the design of the solution. This allows you to, for instance, pile up objects, but at the same time you can also easily knock your solution down. Luckily there’s an undo for objects placement. Progress is saved as you complete the levels. However, some quality of life features are missing, the most flagrant being that level solutions can’t be saved. Value It too me about 4h to beat the 100 levels (so ~3mins per level). There is a single progress slot but you can always revisit previous levels. There’s no support for additional user-designed levels. Achievements are simply related to beating the levels, no additional challenges. Although I can’t really recommend the game, the price tag does seem reasonable. Gravity is a physics-based puzzle game where the goal is to push the button by placing different blocks in clever ways. While the game offers plenty of content, the experience can feel repetitive over time. Though it may appeal to fans of physics simulations, the game’s visual design and gameplay issues prevent it from reaching its full potential.
Pros:
- plenty of levels – with 100 puzzles, there’s no shortage of content - pleasant piano music – the calming soundtrack creates a relaxing atmosphere - solid physics simulation – the well-executed physics engine ensures the game runs smoothly without any bugs in this area
Cons:
- no hints – getting stuck on certain levels can become frustrating, especially with no hint system to offer guidance - completionist achievements – you only earn them for completing a certain number of levels, which may limit the sense of accomplishment for players looking for more varied challenges - awkward controls – the controls are not very polished, and the snapping mechanic often feels imprecise - repetitive gameplay – despite the number of levels, the puzzles start to feel very similar, and new challenges don’t add much variation - not very innovative – while the game is functional, it doesn’t bring anything new or exciting to the puzzle genre - not the prettiest visuals – the game’s aesthetic could be improved, as it comes across as somewhat unappealing to me Overall, Gravity is not a bad game, but it struggles with repetition and lacks the polish that makes a puzzle game truly shine. While the physics mechanics are solid, the lack of visual appeal, absence of hints, and awkward controls can detract from the overall experience. While Gravity has its strengths, it may not fully satisfy those seeking a refined puzzle game experience, but it could be a great option for physics enthusiasts. Fun, physics-based puzzle game. It gets hard fast, and I cannot for the life of me find a solution to levels 96 or 100. Good luck!
Очень классная игрушка которая заставляет напрячь свой мозг, советую всем в неё сыграть!
A remake of an old-school game for the price of a coffee mug. It's definitely worth the money
