An unchallenging puzzle game which involves rotating the squares such that their edges match in colour. I completed the 90 levels in under two hours.
Huh....This puzzle game initially seems rather simplistic, albeit only after being bamboozled by what you have to do in the first place as there's no tutorial. There are cubes, and each side of the cube is colour coded. You rotate them around, and must make it so that the opposite face on its neighbouring cube is the same colour. So you find a place with the fewest options, and then work out from there. Consider the permutations of each move and carry on working outwards. It's not exactly mind boggling, and they missed a trick by not setting a maximum numbers of moves to align everything in, so the challenge is only really getting it completed. Not in doing it planned logistically to be under this limit, or against someone else's score etc (say if it was randomised and always of a certain difficulty) After about ten minutes of playing it I was going to slaughter it with a brutally withering review, but I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and be a bit more "professional" And wha'da'ya'know....it grows in trickiness, and is actually mildly compelling. Although the music is almost dull and repetitive enough to quell any mental stimulation from the game. It's taken less than an hour to finish it, and you can then unlock an infinite mode. Which is presumably some randomised way of making levels, as I don't plan on playing it into infinity to truly test it. Whether that's enough of an incentive to buy this, given its short length and lack of any kind of reward for keeping playing (story, leaderboards or achievements etc), I couldn't say. Personally I wouldn't pay £4 for it, since the likes of the Microsoft card game Freecell cost nothing, and I get a similar but more rewarding bit of mental stimulation playing that. It's not an entirely different take on logistics and forward planning, and it is free to get (though you do have the crappy ads always intruding) You also get some reward for your efforts, with a few funky particles going off and a cheesy "yayyyy!" "whoooo!" sound effect when you win. 'Squatch' is rather barren by comparison, and whilst I've happily played 2000+ games of Freecell, and would play 2000 more, I doubt I'll return to this game. I still give it a positive as it's not without its merits, but.....it could have done with a bit more razza-ma-tazz, a bit more oomph to make it worth the money.
