favorite out of the death mark series tbh

It's not as scary as death mark, but I really enjoyed the story and characters anyway.
i would have to write a big essey, but i am too lazy for that xD so i just wanna say, I would say, i can recomment these games (the spirit hunter series!) :3 (death mark 1, NG, death mark 2) and.. when i played NG or the death mark games, i played them addictively (*i would recommend using a guide tho, especially for the death mark 1 game)
If you liked Death Mark 1 (and it is kind of important to play that first, but also not really, in my opinion), this is a no-brainer buy, fantastic game yet again from Experience. While I think this game is weaker than Death Mark 1, I also think it excels in areas Death Mark 1 didn’t. My biggest complaint overall, is I feel like this game was more static. Death Mark (and 2 now that I'm playing it) have a lot of art screenshots and moving parts, whereas NG had maybe a art screenshots a case, and the spirits barely moved. The story was really good, but again, I think Death Mark was written at a better pace. There feels like a weird amount of downtime, even though there's the implication of a time limit all the time. Also, nothing wrong with re-used SFX, but getting the squeaky doorknob turn SFX on a new glass door felt really out of place. The characters and relationships in NG are much stronger though. I was genuinely invested in every character and their development and outcome, something I felt was a tiny bit lacking previously. The spirit designs were less creative than Death Mark in my opinion. It was all based off folklore and fairly tales though, so I guess they’d be a bit more limited on it. This game had the better ending and payoff, personally, but I might be in the minority there since Death Mark got a sequel and NG didn’t. I really hope Experience decides to come back to this world and characters for a sequel, I think it deserves another look as the world and characters are so strong.
Overall, I had a lot of positive experience while playing this game. The main character is tough, yet feels alive. You can see his emotions, his love and care toward the people around him, and even empathy(all of it is quite rare for a horror MC). I got attached to the side characters, though sadly they tend to disappear from the spotlight after a few arcs (this can be considered a downside of the game). The gore aspect of the game was also decent. Personally, I would like to see more cruelty and less censorship, but even as it is, everything is drawn and presented very nicely. I can’t say this is THE best plot I’ve ever read, but if you’re looking for something interesting and not too hard to understand, this game is a very good choice. Gameplay: This part was the most disappointing. First of all, even though I’ve played a lot of visual novels, the control keys in this one were VERY unusual. There was also no manual for shortcuts. It’s not a huge problem, but I still spent an extra 10 minutes just figuring out how to skip text, open the backlog, and use a few other functions. Text skipping is also not implemented in the best way: you need to hold Ctrl continuously, and there’s no option to skip only the text you’ve already read. This makes replaying the game for different endings unnecessarily inconvenient. The saving system also confused me. You can’t save whenever you want. I don’t mind limited saving — in fact, it can make the game more challenging and forces you to stay focused so you don’t have to replay an extra 20 minutes because of a mistake (although it’s pretty hard to make a mistake in Spirit Hunter NG, xd). However, combined with the poor text-skipping, the saving system feels unnecessarily inconvenient. Puzzles are mostly quite easy to solve, but whether that’s good or bad depends on the player). For me, it was a good part of the game, because I wanted to relax (though doing so while playing horror game is kind of ironic, ahah) Overall, I would give this game a 7/10. For me, that’s a high rating, and I don’t regret a single penny and second I spent on it ;)
I enjoyed Spirit Hunters: Death Mark quite a bit and held off on NG for a while because I felt like it was going for a different vibe. While it's definitely it's own thing, NG is just as fun and satisfying. It's a great mix of point-and-click and choose-your-own-adventure with fantastic art assets and sound effects.
