sparklewand puzzle is a very simple but tricky physics-based bubble shooter matching game. never seen this combination before, I don't think, but I guess it's match 3 or more but also pool. the 'how to play' section explains the rules but I managed to gloss over the fact that the character can be moved around (arrows or wasd), so the first round was not a great experience. and it might work better with just left/right instead of requiring up and down at certain points around the level. thanks to physics, gameplay isn't as you'd expect at all, and no bubbles to shoot from your wand either, you just toss solo, non-crystalized (without a hexagon around them) bubbles around with the beam emitting from the wand and hope they end up getting stuck to other bubbles of the same color and shape inside. color alone doesn't work and can't control how hard you want to hit bubbles. everything in the middle appears crystalized (immobile, stuck together) but if a bubble's neighbors get removed, they can be hit to restore their mobility. balls on the move can also be tossed around, and that coupled with a movable character adds some quick action and dexterity to the mix. and potentially frustration as well. new bubbles constantly appear at random places (the game shows where and when they'll show up), but without one to shoot from the wand, you might have to wait until something useful appears. no timer, so it could be worse, and aiming at a bubble shows which way it'll go, but no game modes, just reach the highest score before any crystalized bubble spreads to the outer area. also, newly-appearing bubbles creating matches don't count, which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. the game doesn't look like much and the music already got on my nerves in the main menu, plus there is only a single sound effect when a match happens, but settings surprisingly include resolution options and windowed mode, separate volume settings and a couple of languages. there's an exit button, often missing these days, and settings and rules are available while playing. without any backround they're hard to make out though, just dumped over the level. sadly, it's too basic and not much fun. I appreciate some basic functionality, but it should be part of every game and mentioning it is only necessary because a lot of devs are too lazy to add them. also, the score counter disappears if you use the pause menu and there's no local leaderboard or the final score shown on the game over screen, so it's even more pointless. the price is way too high as well, though it being a non-recommendation, technically any price would be too much.
