About

Space Tales is a story-driven sci-fi real-time strategy game where humanity’s expansion into the stars has awakened ancient races and universe-ending threats far beyond its control.
You play as Xander Falcon, a young commander shaped by family tragedy and thrown into a war no one fully understands. Under the banner of the I.P.E., humanity’s Inter-Planetary Expansion army, you will build colonies on hostile alien worlds, command retro-futuristic forces, and uncover the truth behind a conflict that reaches far deeper than the battlefield.

Every mission pushes you to think fast and plan ahead. Expand your base with the HUB system, manage limited resources, secure power lines, and fortify your colony before the next wave hits.
Scout ahead, position your units, protect your base, and react quickly when the battlefield changes. The best commanders read the threat, adapt their plan, and seize the advantage.
If you love RTS games where choices matter, Space Tales gives you plenty to master: resource management, base expansion, unit control, defensive planning, and a complex tech tree for your unit and the defense HUB system.

Face three enemy factions with very different combat styles.
The Kill Bots bring relentless mechanized pressure, forcing you to rethink your unit composition and push beyond the safety of your base. The Necroborg escalate the conflict even further, challenging everything you have learned with fortified defenses, perfectly timed attacks, and a threat that grows stronger the longer you leave it unchecked.
What works against one faction may fail completely against another. To survive, you will need to adapt your defenses, unit composition, and battlefield decisions from one mission to the next.
Massive boss encounters test your timing, positioning, and unit control. Study their attack patterns, choose your moment to engage, and strike carefully: these enemies are too dangerous to brute-force, and they cannot be captured.
Beyond boss fights, the battlefield is also home to powerful neutral monsters. Defeat and capture them, then summon them as battlefield allies to break enemy lines, defend your colony, and change the course of battle.

Space Tales blends tactical warfare with a character-driven sci-fi story where personal loyalty, propaganda, imperial ambition, and cosmic horror collide.
As Xander fights alongside Vespera, a sharp mission coordinator, and Desmond, a loyal recruit, each mission uncovers new questions about humanity’s place among the stars. Every battle draws them deeper into the mystery, revealing more about the war, their allies, and the future they are fighting for.
From fragile first outposts to full-scale planetary assaults, the campaign pushes Xander and his forces through desperate defenses, hostile frontlines, and tactical turning points where every decision can change the course of the mission.
The galaxy is hostile. Your resources are limited. Your enemies do not fight fair. This is Space Tales!

I was attracted to the retro style of the game and wanted to play a RTS game with a story. Unfortunately the game is not well designed, the story is the La Croix version of Starcraft, units are pretty basic and boring, the base building and economy is basic. If you wanted to throw money at something that might hold your attention for 5-8 hours sure but this game is a stale ham sandwich of an RTS.
TLDR: Balance issues in the newer missions is insane, still no key binds, and no real graphics adjustments. Cannot recommend. I really wish I could recommend this game, as the premise is really cool, and I love the art style, but I just can't. Truthfully, for me at least, it boils down to balance issues and difficulty for the campaign itself. The game maintains a pretty reasonable difficulty curve from missions 1-8, and they play pretty well. The story is a bit dry, but it is not by any means terrible. Can't say I am the biggest fan of the lack of key binding, a tactical pause, or any real options menu at what is supposed to constitute a 1.0 release, but that withstanding, the first 8 missions play fine. To preface this, I am not by any means some sort of game journalist when it comes to RTS games. I have about 950 hours in TAB, as well as a solid 450 in DAW DC, just to name a couple. But even then, with all that to draw on, mission 9 is a difficulty spike that was completely unexpected. You can tell that, to some extent at least, the developers associated difficulty with a lack of starting resources, or even additional sources close by. In mission 9, for example, your objective is to destroy some spawning trees to allow a hero to approach a wall. If you take too long, the hero gets pushed back and you lose. Simple in concept, right? Now add in constant assaults with units that can one shot any unit or building you can create from the very first two minutes of the game. That is no exaggeration, the necroborgs are so OP it is ridiculous. Their common level units inflict an absolutely MASSIVE amount of poison damage. Enough to kill any unit or building after being hit with DOT. You heard right, they can poison buildings. This, combined with how abysmal the turret damage upgrades for the hub are, force you to create bunkers to turtle all sides in order to prevent even one of the poison dealing enemies from getting through, but they still hit your bunkers, so you have an almost constant leech on your resources in the form of repairs on your bunkers or any other unfortunate buildings that are hit, and these attacks come every minute or so, if that. Only ramping up in intensity. Keep in mind, this entire time, you have access to only 3 resource nodes anywhere in your starting vicinity. All that aside, I eventually managed to out micro enough with a very bare bones force until I was able to scrounge up enough to get production going, and was able to beat the level despite the constant poison attack harassment, the addition of sniper type enemies who can shoot your bunkers from off screen, forcing you to abandon those defenses entirely, and most units adding a "splash" style death effect that will wipe an entire army in only 2 seconds, combined with a pretty strict window for timing attacks to be effective, running into as few enemies as possible as carefully as possible while juggling the other heroes progress towards the wall. Honestly, I had given the game a bit of a break after beating the first 8 missions while I waited on the full release, so I went back and played some earlier missions, and even then, the difficulty spike felt absolutely insane. But I figured it was a sort of perfect storm phenomenon and that the next level would settle in more with the mission parameters and unit comps attacking early game. Boy was I wrong. From about 2 mins 10 seconds in on mission 10, you are under attack by HIGH tier enemies that are attacking from multiple directions. Credit where it is due, there are slightly more resources in the immediate area than the previous level, but this mission is another timed mission where you have to save a certain number of citizens before an alien can eat them. You start with next to nothing, the alien is immediately on the map hunting for humans, and again, you have about 2 minutes to set up an economy, a bulletproof defense, and put together a raiding force capable of fighting high tier units to even be able to compete with the enemy. And even then, that is assuming you have not lost your hero during the defense. Like I stated earlier, I like the concept of the game, and I wish I could recommend it. But, until they can fix some pretty glaring balance issues, or figure out how to add key binds at least, I cannot. EDIT: I also wanted to mention that balance issues aside, I thought the enemy types and designs were actually really cool. Again, as with anything, if you feel its worth it, or see it on sale, I would say go for it, but I just cant recommend it.

I will preface this with the amount of time I have played Space Tales. 85 Hours And I will continue to keep playing this game. I love Space Tales. If your a fan of RTS and want a new modern experience on the genre, this is the game for you. Every unit is unique and has their own artistic flair. Plenty of different building and unit tree / upgrades to keep to keep the game play endless. There have been a lot of RTS games released lately, but this one has been a fun unique experience throughout. The game manages to blend a colorful universe with a dreadful atmosphere at the same time. You will have to micro, macro and have mechanical skills to beat the hardest difficulties, which is what a lot of RTS players are looking for. But if your looking for just casual gameplay, playing on normal will make you feel welcome to the genre. The team is consistently taking in player feedback and improving the game. I'm so excited to see what more is to come. Its rare to find such a gem of an RTS game. It caters to both casual players and hardcore players. Capturing monsters, Surviving Endless waves, Trying out new build, Enjoying the Story of a well written universe or even just enjoying Survival mode. Challenging yourself to getting 5 stars on every mission on the hardest difficulty. There are so many things you can do, and there is PLENTY more being added to the game. If you love RTS, your going to LOVE space tales. Give it a try, you wont regret it.
Playing this game feel so wrong in 2026, it feel like I was back in my early 2006 and playing my first games back then. Kudo to the team for reproduce such an atmosphere. But since this is an early access it feel rough, especially the control. Gameplay look cheesy at first glance but it actually harder than it look. I am still stuck on the 3rd map, maybe I am a noob when come to RTS but this really grind my gear and make me want to play more.
The arts and sounds are great, the gameplay and the story are fun. The game is not perfect yet but it is the start of early access and I'm sure the devs will address the problems , problems being for example no keybind configurations or video resolution. I like it !
A good little indie RTS. Give it a try. Beginner tip, you can build resource collectors without having power over the node. Took me way to long to figure that one out.
This is a treat. If you like the Renaissance of older RTS like Dawn of War and Star Craft mixed with newer RTS concepts - you'll enjoy. The base building is actually pretty unique feels like a mix of their own design, Protoss from Star Craft, and multiple fun options for tower defense. I was somewhat hesitant when trying the demo which only had survival mode, but the campaign is so far much more to my liking. Visual style is fantastic reminiscent of a mix btw SC and Fallout...very fallout actually. I'm playing on steam deck ffs, and the performance is ...well ok I'm using lossless scaling, and it's WAY smoother with this, but I'm rock solid at 90 fps and it feels smooth as butter. Just make sure you tik the vsync mailbox on lossless ✌️
I'll be honest — I had no idea what to expect going in, but this game has absolutely no business being this good. It caught me completely off guard and has been living rent-free in my head ever since. For anyone who grew up glued to a monitor playing the classic RTS titles of the late 90s and early 2000s, this is going to hit you right in the nostalgia. There's something about the pacing, the resource management, and the way battles unfold that feels like a loving letter to that golden era of the genre. But it never feels like a cheap imitation. It takes what made those games great and builds on it in ways that feel fresh and intentional.
it a good rts with its own take in contruction of bases, economy and combat. The only problems are some bugs with load and save. I recommend this one for anyone that like rts like starcraft or command and conquer Edit: Now that i have finished the game, i have some complains, but first the things that i like. I like upgrade systema with the unit, i can see the path of micro and macro, the same as the hub upgrades. The leveling monster system is good and original. The music is a good choice for the game in general. The story is entertaining and like the plot twits. Now the things that can improve: - There a lot of bugs with the upgrade systems, i lost all my upgrades twice while i was playing the campaign and never got it back. Once when i used another file and another during the final combat of mission seven. There a lot of bugs about the monster bugs, is like they dont follow your orders properly -I would voice acting but i know is a small studio so i understand, however the voices of the unit are too quiet and i can hear it with the music. -I dont know the kill bots are bugged but the dont attack me at least i attack them in their zones, and there is not a timer unlike the trailer -The wall dont have health so i dont know they are going to be destroyed Now some suggestions: -The kill bots should be balance with suicide mechanic, an enemy that can die until they damage me is not fun at all, i like the suicide mechanic but dont make inmortal on the process. -I think the monster should be like a neutral unit after you capture them. Like a hero that you summon and let him there killing in his own while you are controlling your army or defending your base. The level systema is good but they level too fast with the nexera and too slow with the kill bots. This should be balanced. -I thing the heros should have an skill tree much more large that the units and should be upgraded with experience between mission. Maybe in future mission you can select only one hero to balance this. -I like the upgrades of the hub but i think that some of this upgrades can go to the other building or give it without having to upgrade each one individually. Maybe you can upgrade them all when you get tier 2 or tier 3 on the command hub. Ok thats all, i really want this game to succed and i will wait until the final update. Bye
currently no comments, just want to help this good game's thumbs up but its recommended and playable still lacking in QoLs and more unique choices, which is standard early access downsides
