I saw the game and I was really excited! The concept for it is excellent, combining the inventory management of Backpack Hero with Minesweeper, but after having purchased and played it, you can see that its quite unpolished. There's no pause menu, the game looks visually unpolished, the minesweeper part doesn't function like normal minesweeper (more on that in a second), and the game just needs more polish. The minesweeper part has you find energy to power your tools, and each click gives the enemies energy. That works excellently. The problem is that the minesweeper part doesn't work like normal minesweeper. If you click a blank space in minesweeper, it will reveal all 8 tiles around it. In Space Order Mine, it only reveals the 4 tiles in the cardinal directions. That means that corners, traditionally one of the most reliable methods of finding mines, is now completely absent. The generation also doesn't lend itself super well to finding mines, but that's more forgivable due to shield. If it does get updated, I'm sure it could become a great game, as it has a strong concept. It just sucks that it's supposedly in full release and not in early access, and is half baked.
Unfortunately decided to refund after about 30 minutes. You are fighting a conga line of enemies. To fight them you play Minesweeper, but instead of avoiding the bombs you want to find them as they give you energy to use combat abilities. However every time you click the enemy gets to charge up an action, so if you don't find bombs quick enough you will start taking heavy damage. I loved Minesweeper as a kid but when I try to go back to it now I just can't enjoy it. It's not a true logic game - you will often just be guessing. Frequently in Space Order Mine I found myself stuck trying to figure out where the next bomb might be, clicking 5+ times to try to get some kind of clue where to look next. Which means the enemy is battering me while I fight back. To add to this the game adds status effects like freezing squares which only serve to slow you down further, it's just irritating. After finishing a level you get to pick from a selection of weapons, items and accessories that provide you with upgrades or new abilities to use in combat. The catch is that you can only keep what you can fit in your storage so you need to rotate everything to take up every inch of space you can. Some items give buffs or penalties based on which items are adjacent to them so you have to think carefully about your placement. While I love inventory management it just felt like a worse version of Backpack Hero, and I really struggled to understand what many of the items actually did because the descriptions weren't very clear.
It has a heavy FTL, mine sweeper and inventory tetris vibe. You end up with lots of different builds like FTL... gather energy to charge your weapons via the mine sweeper mechanic (treasure hunting too). It makes you think logically about each choice... then place the equipment in your inventory to take advantage of buffs.. it all fits together really well and just eats up your time. Fantastic game.

Simple yet engaging! The minesweeper mechanic is implemented very well and force you think about every move.
An Engaging and Challenging Gem from a Small Studio I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this game, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a challenging and rewarding experience. The game cleverly utilizes classic Minesweeper mechanics, which I loved back in the day, but with a fresh and meaningful twist. It’s like Minesweeper, but better and more purposeful. The music and sound effects are really fun and add to the overall enjoyment. The replayability is fantastic – I find myself coming back again and again to improve my skills. The leveling system is well-designed, making it easy to learn how to play properly after the first round, and then you find yourself getting better and better. There is a lot of items you can pickup randomly through the game which adds up to the difficulty, you have to adapt according to the space you have in your inventory. There is a couple of gameplay and language bugs, nothing that will make your experience bad, but i'm confident that it's gonna get updated and fixed through time. This game is truly mind-challenging and offers a satisfying experience every time you play. For a game developed by a very small studio, it’s incredibly well-done and polished. Kudos to the team for creating such a gem!
Fun little game for a cheap price tag. Only issue is if I look at it for any length of time, i.e. 30 minutes, I start going blind, get a headache, and find it very difficult to look at. Never experienced this with any other game.
Great game, would love to bugtest it :)
The game is fairly tough and its rough around the edges, but i think theres a pretty good premise here and the game is pretty good for just 5 dollars
Played the game a lot while it was in development on the web. A very fun take on minesweeper and inventory tetris. The game can be difficult.
