"Sound Slide" is a basic endless runner, a QTE/rhythm based obstacle avoider with about the same tier of gameplay as Super Hexagon, but with really godawfully bad music as the developers apparently think Steam is here to compete with Spotify. Basically you control a minimalist low poly blob and fling along minimalist low poly environments, moving in just the right amount of time not to die, but there's a trick to the game, see, if you die, you can stop playing and your life gets immediately better. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
It's pretty with some poor controls. Since it's free and short, I'd recommend you beat each environment once and leave a short review.
It's a pretty vibey game overall, but it seems to have a little bit of the classical input delay or audio desync or whatever problem that a lot of rhythm games have (it's not game-breaking, but it's noticeable). There is a lot of challenge (and vibing, of course), but the only thing that is actually somewhat hard in the game is the Virtuoso achievement. It's not even that it's hard; it's just that it can get really infuriating. Still a good game though.
sure
Hard but beatable and very much enjoyable - I love the soundtrack!
