Fight through Purgatory in a janky adventure where you and your friends are ethereally chained together. Wield chain magic, bully enemies with chain physics, and make terrible decisions in this game full of gratuitous amounts of jiggle physics. Built by a solo dev when mom wasn't home.

The Soul Chain is neither your friend nor your enemy. Sometimes it creates the most cinematic coordinated attacks imaginable. Other times, it tugs you and your teammate straight into chaos as you die together in frustration.
Coil and tie up enemies together, trip bosses, slingshot objects, clothesline groups of mobs... and more. Combat is deliberate, stamina matters, and panic rolling is a lifestyle I actively designed against. Remember - learning how to fight with the Soul Chain IS the entire game.
As you ascend the colossal Tower of Purgatory, every chapter ends in a battle with massive manifestations of sin, trauma, regret, or an idea I probably came up with far too late at night.
Some will crush you. Others will throw you off ledges. All of them hit HARD.
Do you want to hate your friends? Bring up to three and ascend the Tower and Purgatory as a group. You might think - “The more, the better!”, but it usually ends in more accidental chain yanking, more desperate revives, increasingly louder comms, and failing together as one.
Are you a masochist? There's a single-player mode too.
Instead of being chained to a friend, it’s now a massive glowing ball you'll drag, swing, fight, and fail with throughout your ascension from Purgatory.

I have currently been playing the game solo, but I did experience the coop gameplay in the demo released earlier this year. The solo experience so far has been enjoyable. The mechanic of being chained by a ball and needing to manually readjust adds some interesting mechanical depth, requiring a level of strategy and planning that is different to that of the coop experience. If you need a reference point, it's like someone took the idea of Astral Chain, but your chained partner is the eggs you carry in Monster Hunter. Although I cannot comment on the current state of the coop experience, I will say that the experience I had in the demo was enjoyable. I initially went in expecting the game's bosses to be a cakewalk being as you had a coop partner. However, I was surprised to find out that the combat encounters required working very closely with your partner in order to succeed. There was genuine satisfaction from me and my partner going into initial fights chaotic and clueless, and by the end learning to communicate, position ourselves correctly and become more in-sync with how we needed to react to the enemy encounters and boss movesets. Comparing the current game to the demo released earlier this year, I would say that there is a definite improvement to the gameplay, polish, performance and visuals. Combat feels a lot more fluid and meatier. Whilst parrying, enemy reactions and the chain all feel more consistent. Overall, the game is enjoyable. Is it going to be the next competitor to the likes of Fromsoft or even Cold Symmetry? No, but then again I don't believe the game was ever intending to do so. This is largely a coop action game, with the addition of some physics based combat (Tripping enemies with the chain, for example), puzzling and platforming, it is not a dark souls clone, even if the aesthetic suggests so. For a solo developed game, especially tackling a 3D game with physics interactions and action combat (Mechanics and genres that are difficult to implement well), I cannot fault it. It is well priced and executes exactly what the game tells you it is going for. Recommended.
This game is really fun! one of the more fun souls games ive played. Could do with some polish but for the price, its a fun game. Not nearly as laggy as people were saying, I didn't have any performance issues with the game, and im dealing with the attached specs. Could do with more weapons, an inventory, and some general gameplay updates but for the price, solid game.
Better than GTA 6. 9/10.
So far I have tried this co-op and solo and I have enjoyed both. Solo, you carry around a ball and chain and you can whip the ball at enemies and send them flying. Co-op, you can wrap enemies up in the chain and cause them to trip so you can stomp a mudhole in them, or you can turn you and your friend into a hurricane where you are the eye and they are the storm wall and you blast all the enemies betwixt you. Either way, I have found it entertaining. If you go into this expecting Elden Ring for what cost you a fiver, thats on you. Soul chained is not as polished as chained together, but it is its own version. The focus is more on combat, working together, and using the chain as part of your battle strategy, rather than navigating obstacles. For the cost, I have gotten more entertainment hours out of Soul Chained than going to the movies, and I didn't have to see Zandara or Pablo Pasqual. So its an automatic thumbs up from me just for that. I look forward to seeing where the dev goes with this, if they are able, as I had fun so far. Even if I can't get a battle buddy to play again, I got my money's worth.
The game looks fun after the hype of chained together, but its not. I played it with my firend and we are both into the friend slop games and souls-like. We were expecting this game to be bad, but in a good way where it uses it as its funny charm. but its just so janky, buggy and the hits dont make sense, neither does the stamina bar. We tried to play it past the first boss but after that moved on. I recommend using this money to find another game to play wiht your friend because it is not as fun as it seems. It needs some more thought and a little extra time to make this game (what I assume) it is supposed to be.
Loved the game! Great idea, the chain mechanics are really cool, bosses were hard to kill, parry and rolls timings were on point. We fought and laughed while playing it.
Honestly for $5 dollars not a bad game for you and a friend or friends to play and beat in a couple hours. I had no issues with lag or anything gameplay related UNTIL the very end i couldnt LIGHT ATTACK so we had to save at the checkpoints and reload the save, but other than that just ignore all the AI comments its honestly not that bad id recommend for $5..... alot of reviews without them beating the game
