**First Impressions** In Sorcerous you explore an interesting world with a band of engaging characters. Unlike most JRPG style games you'll need to approach each battle a little more cautiously. Taking note of enemy weaknesses, different options provided by different equipment loadouts, what all the different items do and making sure to exploit every advantage as often as possible is key. Combat feels more inspired by Dungeons and Dragons rather than Final Fantasy. With a focus on difficult encounters managing HP and MP can be tense, but so far hasn't been overwhelming. One potential downside to this is keeping track of what equipment offers what spells, which spells do what, and the various strengths and weaknesses against the different types of enemies. You'll explore the world by way of large semi-open themed hub areas, such as a forest for example, with numerous major, side and minor quests to fulfill. These range from typical fetch and kill quests to figuring out puzzles revolving around the lore you pick up while playing or the established in-universe magic system. Between some of the quests involving answering questions about the world and magic, and the combat it is worth keeping a notebook handy to jot down notes, whether that’s a positive or negative is up to you, but coming from a DnD mindset it feels fitting to me. Every quest is well written and manages to not only reference or subvert some fantasy tropes but also bring plenty of unique ideas and scenarios to them. The only real downside is the game mostly relying on stock RPG Maker graphics, but mileage on that will vary from player to player. You'll know how important that aspect is to you, and despite the stock look it doesn't take away from the story or characters. Not to say everything is stock, there is some original art and all of what I've seen in the game so far looks very lovely. I'm around halfway through the game I believe, and so far Sorcerous offers a solid turn based RPG with an emphasis on tight combat encounters requiring well thought out turn execution, and thorough exploration to find every little helpful item along the way. I definitely recommend fans of DnD give this a look as it’s a pretty interesting meld of TTRPG and JRPG sensibilities mixed together quite well. **Full disclosure: I was paid to help playtest this game. This review was in no way an obligation for, or influenced by, my playtesting. This review was written due to genuinely enjoying my time with the game, and wanting to help boost the game however I could because as of writing this it only had one review and deserves more attention.**
So far its a fun game I just started but loving the music and the adventure.
Jogo bonito! Tinha que ter Português BR!
New type of game for me. Getting used to the play style.
Very much for Harry Potter fans, rather than general RPG players - the amount of lore and other things gets overwhelming at times. One major drawback is you can only save at set points, and these save points are very spaced out. Voice acting is okay-ish. Quality varies Graphics are nice, but pretty much RPG Maker standard stuff
Too much exposition. Also the puzzles, after you get to them for one hour of dialogue, are dumb. You get the typical two guardians, one tells the truth, the other lies. You only get one question. How unique. Also it says 60 quests but at least 8 of them are just exposition.
