Sonic Generation is the one of the better 3D Sonic games but now with Shadow Generations, it makes this the best sonic game. Its excellent from the story, music, level design and presentation. Had a very fun time with all the different abilities Shadow gets. Definite Recommend even as a fun platformer even if you don't like sonic or 3d platformers.
Shadow Generations is insane. The level design is 10/10. Sonic Generation too is good but dated and not worth to buy this collection for. Just buy the original. Buy this only for Shadow Generations
Amazing game. The only real problem is that is too short! Character "handling" if you can call it that, is much snappier than in Sonic Frontiers, so its better. I havent played the Generations game yet, but iIll update it later.
good story and gameplay
the best sonic game so far
This one was a blast. Slapping Shadow on the box was already enough to get me to buy it of course, but the way this game tugged on my heartstrings is nearly unmatched by anything else I've played. Getting to see Maria and Gerald again was such a treat. The levels and music are also gas fire flames, and the collectibles celebrating Shadow's history were extremely nice to see. I've never played Sonic Battle so getting to listen to the Emerl plotline was fun as well. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer, and that they made more DLC than just "movie promotion."
shadow GOD
The fact that my play-time is overstated by around 18 hours is symptomatic of the executable(s) failing to terminate correctly. Quite why Sega packaged Sonic Generations in its own executable is beyond me, and the two apparently don't talk to each other very well... And quite why Sega doesn't recognise dpad inputs as well as stick inputs in-game is unfathomable (Steam Input is your friend). Sonic Generations is... fine at best, but generally not very good. The level design just feels like it gets in the way so much. It does get pretty annoying in places, especially on a first look at a level. But it's never so bad as to be rage-quit inducing. It's just not that fun. Shadow Generations has much higher highs. Especially early doors, the game is much more fluid and intuitive to play. But later in the game, Shadow's power-ups are trotted out in tedious navigation challenges that are just pretty dull, and the levels become split-second-reaction drills to see if you remembered the controls for your new power a split second after seeing *something* pop up on screen. Fortunately, there's no real consequence for death. And the bosses have checkpoints, which is always good of what would otherwise be rubbish Sonic bosses. The open world is... okay, but after scratching the surface of what there is to explore you realise there's not much there. There's collectables and Big the Cat is there bit it's a bit of a snooze after a while. The music is perfectly cromulent - it does its job whilst being unobtrusive and unmemorable. Graphically, both games look great. I had a little stuttering at times during Shadow cutscene, but otherwise they ran well enough The price is where this game goes quite badly awry. I beat both campaigns in a very leisurely 12 hours. Very leisurely. A £44.99 price tag for a compilation of a pretty mediocre game and an okay game that only last 12 hours is very steep. I paid £22.49 and felt like I'd been stung. I'd have been happier had I spent £15. So if there's a really deep discount, I'd say "fill yer boots".But until then you're best of waiting - you're not missing out on that much.
