Songs of Araiah: Re-Mastered Edition

Very Odd that there are Zero (0) reviews at the time of this writing. I enjoy VN's, Kinetic & Choice-driven, both. But, I found Songs of Araiah short, tedious, and a chore to get through. Positives - The background artwork was really well done, and the characters were 'alright' Absolutely first mention for Negatives is unforgiveable IMO, and goes to the rigid file structure of the game. NOTE: If game is not installed precisely on the C:\ drive following an unusual and very specific path, the game WILL NOT LAUNCH. (See Community Discussions) The nice and responsive Dev has provided patches for alternate drive letters BUT (WAIT FOR IT....) these patches also demand a specific directory path. If you're like me and MOST other gamers, your OS is on your fastest drive (whether an SSD or M.2 if ur lucky) and games are on alternate storage, right?! I was able to get this VN to run by following another users comment to unzip the file 'Songs of Araiah.webapp' via 7Zip to edit the .ini file contained within & re-compress, and yes it was a bit more complicated than that, but after 30-45 minutes of fiddling with this JAVASCRIPT nightmare of a VN, I finally got it to work. Negatives #2 has to go to the BGM, that sounded liked ripped off 20-40 second music sample snippets IMO that repeated over and over and NEVER seemed to suit the mood or actions at that point in the story. Just awful digital elevator-music snippets. Conclusion: Just getting Songs of Araiah to launch was such a miserable experience that it earns a DOWNVOTE. The awful, inappropriate, and repetitive BGM 20-40 second 'snippets' were bad enough for a DOWNVOTE The BG artwork was really appealing and worth a Thumbs UP 3/10 Overall - Will only consider this Dev again in the future if they move to better VN engine & away from JavaScript - Sorry!
