I read in discussion that this game not sold so well so we havent got rekindled update yet ? cmon ppl. this is a great survival game. And it's cheap too. I just played 2 hours but the gathering and combining is good enough. Still havent got the hang of building but I just read a bit on that and ready for my next session. The hunting is surprisingly cool. Sneaking on the deers, shoot them with arrows, follow the blood when they run, and finished them. Though I'm not a fan of skinning it as it took time (literally in game time). read the review and said it's scary. I havent got to the scary part yet it seems. Day time seems to be short, and night time to be too long, as exploring at night with torch is painful, and the torch only last so long. Still just try it, but all in all, I like what I experienced and hopefully it would stay good.
What a cool game! I don't play alot of survival games, but this one was alot of fun. I really liked the mechanics and the story. Really got a Breath of the Wild vibe from the graphics which isn't a bad thing. I wish you could use your hands for climbing and/or grabbing items instead of trigger press, but that hardly takes away from the fun.
This is THE BEST representation of the early VR Survival genera! Crafting is intuitive, making good use of motion controls to keep immersion high. Status effects such as cold, tired, hungry or bleeding, are shown subtly as a few floating HUD icons like ice-crystals, sleepy-eyes, or blood-drops. The fear can get pretty real as there are many dangers and encounters to avoid or conquer. The upgrades feel useful and rewarding by covering areas like larger-packs and higher armor/weapon stats. Keeping all your "meters happy" includes managing hunger, fatigue, temperature, and light-sources. Item management includes having enough firewood or light, with deadly consequences if neglected. Campfire system is unique that it requires a "pyramid" mix of timber using sticks, medium-Sticks, and logs.
Pure awesomeness Great atmosphere, great handling, great sounds
Fun exploration, survival and combat. The crafting is well-done. Gorgeous environments with a nice art style. Not really an open world, but rather a series of medium sized to large levels. Runs great on minimum system requirements. My only gripe would be the inventory management, but hey, it's a survival game after all! "The ultimate caveman simulator" pretty much sums it up accurately.
All around great VR survival game: cool setting and atmosphere, good looking stylized visuals, smooth difficulty curve and addictive gameplay loop. The only weak parts are awkward melee and teleportation climbing, but even that is tolerable. In my opinion, it is one of the best games that came out in the last 2 years. You play as a lone hunter in beautiful prehistoric environments that get more a more hostile as you progress. Stylized visuals look almost as good as Saints and Sinners, and later levels have those breathtaking vantage points where you can see almost whole map from high above. Forest sounds and realistic lighting with pitch black nights create thick atmosphere of wild nature and sometimes primal horror. All interactions are designed for VR with intuitive item crafting and building. Gameplay loop is addictive, you constantly have something to do as you hunt and gather to get better equipment or explore the land to progress in the story. Song in the Smoke never leaves survival phase for base building like many similar titles do. You are a hunter, not an industrial builder: food will always be scarce and nights - dangerous if you do not prepare enough wood for bonfire before dusk. Archery is deliberately slow: bowstring draw speed is limited, stopping you from becoming an arrow minigun like you usually do in VR archery titles:) And there is huge difference in damage between hitting a heart and anything else, further encouraging accurate shots. Melee is weightless and not very enjoyable, but it's usually only used to finish wounded animal with 1-2 hits to the head or block enemy charge. The campaign is quite long for VR and will take about 10-20 hours to finish depending on chosen difficulty and your playstyle.
Wow, what an underrated gem. You are a cave-person / native trying to survive and level up your equipment as you face increasingly dangerous animals in the prehistoric wild. It's exciting (& creepy at night), challenging (with a good difficulty ramp), uses VR mechanics (vs. simply being a survival port), great sounds (crank it up), and has a unique art style. I hope more serious players give it a chance as it is completely worth the journey. I'm probably 1/3 the way in at 9hrs. The survival aspects of the game have not been too consuming/distracting thus far. For me, hunting and exploring during the day are the most fun, and crafting / surviving are the means to that end. The game has no words (great) and the few dreams/hallucinations serve as hints. I am thoroughly enjoying the well-designed maps and heart-pumping moments. Areas for improvement: the grabbing/placement is imperfect and in key moments can feel like I am bumbling around for a key item. Example: In the day I use the bow and club, but at night, I find myself clamoring into the inventory to pull out a torch. I discovered couple rendering errors with objects hovering high in the air. Hearing gripes about auto-save and would generally agree that if you get back safe to a fire, the game should not require you to manually go save (immersion breaking). A gripe with my fellow Steam community - this game is well reviewed and popular on PSVR and Oculus (500+ positive reviews), yet has very few reviews (and I assume purchases) on Steam. Why? From reviews/chatter it feels like the bar is much higher here (and I can partly see why - better equipment, other platforms are lower res, often much younger...), but seriously this game deserves much more love...spread the good word!
Excellent game, fun hunting, crafting and exploring.
Один з кращих сурвайвелів у VR. Єдина причина чому це ненайкраща гра в жанрі це відсутність обновлень з 2021 року :[
