PING PING PING PING PING.... BAM I hate walls, but I love this game.
Great idea, really well executed. Sonar Scout has one simple idea, explore an underwater environment using your sonar to see. Your "pings" briefly make the landscape visible, during which time you must carefully navigate around the twists and turns of the underwater cave systems. The catch is, you have very limited uses of your ping, and a small health pool that depletes when you bump into the sides or make contact with one of the hostile creatures floating around the caves. At first this seems simple enough, with each beacon you activate helping to permanently paint the landscape in a short distance around it. But this quickly gets trickier and trickier as these beacons are spread further apart, the landscapes get more complex, and more and more hostile creatures appear in the open spaces between them. This forces you to make efficient use of your battery and risk longer and longer jaunts in the dark, trying to keep the landscape in your memory as it fades to blackness on the screen. A really welcome touch is that when you take damage you also get the effect of a sonar ping, meaning when you run out of battery you can sometimes navigate to safety using the last of your remaining health as a backup sonar ping. This leads to some extremely tense moments, crawling slowly through the caves trying desperately to get to safety. The leader boards add a nice incentive to repeat the levels, getting quicker and more daring and trying to clear each stage in shorter and shorter times. I've only played the first few stages right now but I'm already hooked and I'm looking forward to settling in to finish it.

Still early days but I took to this game instantly and so figured I’d give my 2 cents. Atmosphere is great, very watery under-the-sea feeling. UI and controls are simple, which is what I like and expect! Good polish, variation in game modes, sometimes maybe a bit too challenging for me personally, but maybe I will unlock some kind of chill mode eventually? For the price (<5€) it’s totally a buy for me.
A charmingly simple game, that I happily spend a late evening on. Disclaimer: I'm friends with the dev team so grain of salt and all that. (Tried to be honest though^^) Game is exactly what the trailers show. Got a bunch of varied levels, and 3 different ship types to play as. (I stuck with the base ship for as much as the game allowed) If you move at a brisk pace a full play-through takes a bit more than two hours, but collectables and online leader-boards can certainly add a bunch of potential playtime. As is, a few rough corners here and there remain, but nothing mayor. The atmosphere and core gameplay are strong enough to carry the experience for it's full length. All in all, well worth giving a try I'd say^^
ENG: It’s a small arcade game with a pretty simple premise: you have to activate a series of beacons by maneuvering different types of underwater vehicles and using a limited resource to gain visibility. As a reward, besides unlocking the next levels, there are also color palettes to collect, and it features online leaderboards for best times on each level. A thumbs up for me, it does the job nicely.
While the game is really atmospheric, I am in it for the leader boards! There is such a nice flow to zooming through the levels quickly in the darkness. Racing through the skull paths with barely any health left always makes the heart race!
Really fun little game. I really enjoyed that most levels introduce a new little feature or challenge. It made every level be a unique experience. Love the music. Reminded me of Subnautica so it definitely gave me those submarine feelings.
This game and the song "Das Boot" by U96, which is based on the 90s movies series "Das Boot", go along very well, would boot again
Really cool game with an art direction and sound design that successfully navigate the fine line between chill and dread. Quite a lot of content, with many levels that all have their own twist to the main game mechanic + a lot of secrets to find too. That game was made with love, and it shows!
A unique game that knows what it wants to be. I already played the demo before buying it and really enjoyed my time there. The minimalist visuals and atmospheric soundtrack make me tune everything else out and focus on my submarine. Sonar Scout feels like a game from the 90s, with its clear intent, difficult levels and mysterious, hostle vibe. I love it! To me, the best feeling is when you make it out with only one HP left, so intense. The scoreboard is also a nice addition, and I bet will stir a fierce competition for the fastest / most efficient routes.
