It feels great to finally have an affordable, functional, and good-looking Solitaire collection on Steam. My only tiny suggestion would be more cosmetic options, but mainly because I love the look of classic face cards. Super worth it!
Solitar: Retro Picks is an absolute delight for fans of classic solitaire games and those looking for a relaxing experience. Boasting a charming collection of eleven solitaire variations, with the addition of Minesweeper and Nuclei (JezzBall clone). This title masterfully merges nostalgic visuals with modern gameplay elements to create an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. One of the standout features of Solitar: Retro Picks is its seamless blend of retro aesthetics with contemporary design. The game's pixel art graphics are both captivating and evocative, taking players on a journey back to the golden age of gaming while maintaining a polished, crisp appearance on modern devices. The user interface is thoughtfully designed and easily navigable, ensuring that players can concentrate on the game without unnecessary distractions. The gameplay in Solitar: Retro Picks is both soothing and challenging, catering to a wide range of players. With a variety of well-known favorites such as Klondike, FreeCell and Spider, as well as lesser-known variants, there's an abundance of content to explore and master. A particularly noteworthy aspect of the game is the option to play solvable layouts for many of the card games. And if you give up, the solutions can be played back with all the features of a VCR/DVD player. This option unlocks after the player restarts the layout three times. This feature allows players to hone their skills and continually improve their gameplay. In response to player feedback, there is now a new theme selection to change the back of the cards and board color. Furthermore, the game's convenient autosave feature ensures that players can easily pick up where they left off, making it perfect for both quick gaming sessions and extended play. The combination of solvable layouts, unlimited undo, and varied gameplay, makes Solitar: Retro Picks an outstanding choice for card enthusiasts and newcomers alike. In conclusion, Solitar: Retro Picks is a must-have for anyone who appreciates the timeless allure of solitaire games. With its captivating visuals, engaging gameplay, and wide variety of content, this title offers hours of entertainment. So, sit back, relax, and let Solitar: Retro Picks transport you to a world of classic card-playing fun! If you miss the old days of playing those built in windows games on your old family computer, this is the game for you! Lots of variety for card game enjoyers, and even a few extra games thrown in there with minesweeper and a jezzball clone. The art and sound effects are all wonderfully nostalgic feeling and the game just feels super comfy in general. It even runs super well on the steam deck which is a huge bonus! I highly recommend picking this up if you're on the fence. My only small request is maybe a few extra card back options, especially some reminiscent of those old windows card games to really complete the nostalgia aspect. But otherwise the game is great so far! Definitely pick it up if you're a sucker for nostalgia or just really like card games!
WTF am I doing with my life :D
Solitar is exactly what I’ve been wanting. I don’t have to deal with ads on my phone anymore, I can just play Klondike at the comfort of my Steam Deck. It’s absolutely criminal that this game is not extremely known. Not only does it work incredibly well, but it’s super lightweight (meaning super long battery life! You can get about 6 hours of battery life on the Steam Deck with this game if you limit your TDP)! I highly recommend this game to anyone that has a Steam Deck. The dev(s) have taken so much care into making sure the game works beautifully for the Steam Deck and it pays off. The only recommendation I have is more sounds, some soft music in the main menu, sounds in nuclei, a sound when you fail a game, just some quality of life stuff really.
Holy holidays, where has this fantastic game been hiding!! I've played several card game packs before that have disappointed, I've been searching for a basic Solitaire for quite some time, and this one has all my desired features. I just haven't found the right replacement for the Microsoft versions until now. But this is it! This game does a great job with Klondike solitaire, Spider, and Tri-peaks with several other versions included. The music is way more kick ass than I was expecting and I appreciate including the credits for the music in the audio menu. There are achievements for certain difficulty settings, options for changing the card back / fronts / background to darker themes, select your undo button frequency, and it auto-saves your progress. Please note, there is no hint button. Regardless, I believe the quality of the game including the stellar music makes up for this. They even added Minesweeper, which I had also been looking for. Maybe they'll even add a Mahjong and Sudoku in the future? I could only hope. I'll definitely be buying a copy for all my friends for Christmas. *Update 3 months later - Mahjong has been added!! Yay, thank you so much!
So one of the issues i had was fixed after the developer reached out to me. Really great how the dev manages the player base and reaches out when issues happen. TLDR: - great game - great art style - great dev Can only recommend this. Old bad review: Has a cool art-style and is a bargain i would say, but sadly i need to restart the game every few games because selecting cards (mouse input) is not recognized and i can just open the menu. Is a little bug but this makes it really hard to enjoy. Hope this get's fixed soon.
Minesweeper
I like it 👍
Fun set of games to play when you want to kill time or want to have a challenge. There are no difficulty levels or hints for the card games so they can be difficult.
