About
Solarpunk is a survival game in a technologically advanced world of floating islands. Alone or together with 4 friends, you can construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and explore distant islands with your own airship.
Use sunlight, wind and water to create an energy system and automate your processes like gathering resources and watering your plants.
Design your dream home base with a wide range of materials and decorations. You’re free to build cozy spaces, add tiny details, and make your island feel just like home.
These buildings were crafted by our amazing community in the demo!

Generate electricity using wind and solar energy. Weather conditions affect how much energy you produce, so you’ll need to plan ahead. Store energy in batteries and use wireless power to keep your base running smoothly.

Play solo or with friends. Everyone has their own inventory, and you can decide whether to build something together or create your own little corner in the sky.

In Solarpunk, you live in symbiosis with animals. There is no exploitation, only coexistence. Pigs, for example, will dig up truffles if treated well. Growing fruits and vegetables is your main source of food. Plant seeds in the ground and harvest them once they’re fully grown.

Automate your tasks using transport drones to gather resources, giving you more time to build and explore your skybound home.

Each player can build their own airship. Use it to travel to surrounding islands and discover new resources.

I was really excited for this game for quite some time. I am a long time survival crafting buff, with a soft spot for cozy aesthetics and a fondness for automation in games. You can tell very early on that the game is half baked. The animations are rigid and robotic, the textures are minimally detailed, and the initial gameplay loop is lacking. This leads quickly into a very grind oriented style of gameplay where you cannibalize the entire first island of resources to build a small shack, and get your first ship (which can not be shared by other players in the multiplayer environment.) Long story short I did not put much time into this game, but that is because it is clear the developers did not either. If the early game suffers from such a lack of diversity and interesting gameplay I can only imagine how it feels to grind to late game and see much of the same. The most well fleshed out part of the game is the decorating aspect, if that is something you are interested in I think there are a wide variety of games that not only do it better, but have that as the primary focus. I will keep my eye on the game and see what sort of attention the devs give to it, maybe in a couple of years it will feel more satisfying to play.

6/10 Pretty but not very engaging. The world is spectacular. Flying feels great. The airboat controls do take a while to get used to, but once you do, it becomes very natural. The no-story approach was really nice. No nagging quest markers or poorly voiced exposition. You simply explore at your own pace, unlocking the world bit by bit. But while the game needs no story to be enjoyable, it sadly also lacks properly engaging game-play. Most notably, the survival mechanics are very poorly balanced. Hunger and thirst drain at half the speed they should, meaning you only need to eat once a day, if even that. And mid-to-late-game food recipes slow down the depletion rate even more. It's just all-round too easy to present any kind of enjoyable challenge. I get it: the dev wants to create a relaxing experience, but that being the case, it calls into question why survival mechanics were added in the first place. Survival games are often polarizing. People who don't want survival mechanics in a game don't want them at all. No matter how slowly the hunger bar drains, such players would prefer that the bar simply didn't exist. And that's a fair position to take. On the other hand, people like me who enjoy survival games do so only when surviving is an actual challenge to overcome. This game fails to please both camps. Your character's hunger and thirst deplete at such a rate as to be annoying but not in any way realistic, immersive or enjoyably difficult. Meanwhile, this full-release game has enough bugs and missing features to make an Early Access blush. Animals often get stuck and refuse to eat, making it impossible to obtain their resources. The weather pattern is always locked in place: it rains at exactly the same time every single day until you restart the game, and then it gets locked into another pattern. None of the furniture is functional. Some machines require electricity, while others have magically powered indicator lights without being plugged in. The reward for reaching the very final area is a small increase in your inventory size. And despite its painfully generic, uninspired title, there's very little "solar" in Solarpunk. Solar panels are used for a short time during the early game, but are quickly replaced by wind turbines of various sizes. I cleared it. Despite the bugs, lacking features and poor game balance, I (just barely) enjoyed it enough to give it a positive review. I certainly enjoyed the AMBIANCE a lot. I just wish I could have enjoyed the GAME more.
I'm giving it a thumbs up cuz i enjoyed it but am extremely disappointed that in 23h (realistically less cuz i've gone afk a few times while cooking irl lol) all content has been unlocked... there's nothing else in the game... so SAY 24h gameplay and it has nothing new to offer at all :/ but yeah i enjoyed playing, just wished it had more content..

The problem starts right with the tutorial. A tutorial is supposed to explain how to play the game, not just blindly dictate: "Build X, build Y, build Z." It should say something like: "Open the build menu with the [F] key." Even better, of course, would be dynamic keybinding variables—so if you remap the [F] key, the text updates automatically. That’s completely missing here, which already shows how poorly designed this tutorial is. Other than that, the whole thing feels way too cozy to me—too cozy, too simplistic. It might gain some depth down the line, but at its core, it’s honestly just pretty boring. So unfortunately, I have to say it’s not worth the money for me. Sure, that's personal preference, I admit. But speaking as a game tester: when I notice the tutorial is already lacking, I get immediately skeptical about whether they managed to get the rest of the game right. That sends up red flags for me right away.
