Extrem langweilige Adventure-Niete
Da kriegt man “Augen-Kretze”. Pretty awesome 90's retro point and click with a free first episode. Where this game shines is it's homage to classic point and click gameplay and style. The soundtrack is fun and the voice acting is good. The graphics and animation may seem dated to some but I think that also comes with the homage to classic point and click games. This does seem to be targeted toward players of this classic 90's point and click games. Expect to have to be able to think about where to go and what to inspect/use often with no hand holding.
Pros
-Retro respect of the 90's point and click style -Nice atmosphere, colors, soundtrack, and voice acting to fit the retro feel -Fun dialog -Decisions can change gameplay
Cons
-Can be a bit hard to navigate with small exit areas -Character sprites cut in half when traveling through dark locations -Kind of niche appeal for fans of classic point and click games In the end this is a nice free homage to classic point and click games. If you enjoy titles such as Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle, this will be right up your alley.
How NOT to design a point and click adventure
As a lover of point and click adventures, this one just makes me realise how good many of the others are going off how bad this is. I could only manage 7 minutes of this, the voice acting is just terrible. The voices don't even match up with the text on the screen and many words are missed out during the speaking. The drawings are very badly done in places, such as the main character. The user interface is awful and general user experience extremely poor. Now this is a free game so credit to the developers not asking for money for this, so the game is priced correctly for how much it is worth. However the development team are clearly new to this and I am sure will learn from this effort, as a PNC player who has been playing point and click adventures since the Amiga days with Monkey Island and Beneath a Steel Sky to name a few this would be very low on my list in comparison. This game includes so many fundamental mistakes, I would tell the development team to take a look at some of the good PNC games and take some notes because this is a pretty big mess. My Score - 1/10
"Get a job, you filthy hippie !" Tucana Lake, June 1974. An ordinary student, a paranormal phenomenon... And a free episode to introduce Sol705. Sol705 is a funny Point & Click adventure inspired by the old school games we had back in the '90s. At the moment, there's only one available episode, but there should be a second one soon according to the website. This first episode is free and a great introduction to the game, so I'll keep an eye on this one and see what comes next. The game takes place in 1974 and starts with a strange event that may lead to believe in the presence of an UFO as well as an abduction. You play as Meeno Estucco, a mediocre student eager to leave school and enjoy the winter's holiday. But the thing is... Father Carlito won't let you out until you've retrieved the report card you shredded. Up to you to find a way out of the school and find a bass player for your brother's band, otherwise he will denounce you to your parents. Nasty snitch ! The visual reminds me of the old games but I think it was made this way on purpose. The soundtrack is pretty awesome, I look forward to hearing more of it. The voice acting is surprisingly good, but there are some details not in point yet : some typos, there's some confusion with "he" and "she", sometimes the text doesn't match what the voice actor says, or even radio silence when some lines are forgotten. The gameplay is quite simple, although it can be a bit tricky to navigate through areas and, as in the classic Point & Click adventures, there are no hints so you'll have to click on the backgrounds, think, combine items, figure out where to go and what to do. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1332855509 All in all Sol705 is promising and respects the spirit of the retro adventures games. I don't know where this is leading us yet, but it definitely looks like a fun science fiction Point & Click game. Please give us more. Edit : Sol705 is now on Kickstarter : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/782397044/sol705?ref=nav_search&result=project&term=sol705
First impressions (having only played for 30 mins): Puzzles: 6/10 Story: Too early to tell Humour: 6/10 Graphics: 6/10 (seems very hit and miss - I don't think blurry gfx are a requirement for a 90s style point&click) Animation: 5/10 (glitchy at times) Music: 6/10 English written dialogue: 6/10 (quite a few mistakes and not as well-written as it could be) English spoken dialogue: 5/10 (very hit and miss voice acting, mistakes, inconsistency with written dialogue) Final impressions: Puzzles: 7/10 Story: Not really possible to tell from this early-access demo Humour: 7/10 Graphics: 6.5/10 Animation: 5.5/10 Music: 7/10 English written dialogue: 6/10 English spoken dialogue: 6/10 (main issue is with the main character) Overall: 6.5/10 (a little polishing would go a long way though) Note to the developers: Could you make it so left-click is 'examine' and right-click is 'action' (talk or whatever) - or is that not possible with the engine you're using? A lot of LucasArts games had that and it was a nice feature (I think maybe BASS did too).
this is a good, fun , a little confusing game. as someone who has never played a point and clikc i didnt fully understand but it becomnes more apparent overtime. i love the art style, and the music is pretty cools from a non point adn clikc game player i give 8/10
A very promising first chapter, giving us a hint of an interesting story acted out by some zany characters. It's hard to put a finger on it, but everything in Sol705 definitely has some of that specific, likable style going on. While the visuals seem inconsistent, the animations are very nicely done. Also, great music. And hey, its on Kikstarter right now! Maybe we can help get it finished :)
Much potential, well done I really like this kind of game. It is great that there is more than one way to get things done. It has left me wanting more. I find the odd language amusing, but some are annoyed by slight language mistakes. The little grmmer errors do not harm the game play or confuse things. This kind of game is really great if you can find hints as part of the game play to help solve things. One example in Sol705 is when you try the light switch, the comment that you can do it again, helps. I only realised that you can get the janitor to clean by doing different things when I read comments on the game. In-game hints are really useful for uncovering all sorts of things.
Captivating music. Charming characters. Simple, clean design. Such a really endearing work. Congratulations!
