Na rozdíl od předchozího N.P.P.D. RUSH, který se nesl v podobném duchu hardcore top-down shooteru, se mi tohle dílo vůbec nelíbilo.
So bad
//SNOWFLAKE TATTOO//, developed by Rail Slave Games and published by KPL, is an intentionally unconventional experience that resists easy categorization, presenting itself as a hybrid of shooter, experimental RPG, and abstract interactive art. Rather than guiding the player through a structured or familiar gameplay loop, it deliberately dismantles expectations, offering a fragmented and often disorienting journey that prioritizes interpretation over clarity. From the moment it begins, it becomes evident that this is not a game designed for accessibility or comfort, but one that challenges the player to engage with it on its own unusual terms. Set within a surreal, frozen environment aboard a distorted vessel, the game places players in control of a sentient entity navigating a system that feels both mechanical and organic. The narrative is deliberately opaque, unfolding through scattered fragments, environmental cues, and cryptic interactions rather than direct storytelling. Themes of morality, control, and exploitation emerge gradually, but they are never presented in a straightforward manner. Instead, players are left to piece together meaning from incomplete information, creating a sense of ambiguity that can either be intriguing or frustrating depending on one’s perspective. Gameplay is built around a combination of exploration, combat, and resource management, but these elements are presented in ways that are intentionally difficult to parse. Controls and systems are not clearly explained, requiring players to experiment and adapt in order to understand even the most basic mechanics. Combat feels raw and unpredictable, with encounters that lack the polish or feedback typically found in more traditional shooters. Resource management introduces additional layers of decision-making, but the lack of guidance means that players often learn through trial and error, sometimes at the cost of progress. One of the defining features of the experience is its use of permadeath, which adds a layer of tension to every action. Progress is not guaranteed, and failure can result in the loss of accumulated resources or progress, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on careful decision-making. However, this system also amplifies the impact of its opacity, as players may struggle to understand why they failed, leading to moments where the challenge feels arbitrary rather than earned. The combination of unclear mechanics and high stakes creates a dynamic that is both compelling and potentially alienating. The presentation of //SNOWFLAKE TATTOO// is as unconventional as its gameplay. Visually, the game embraces a stark and often chaotic aesthetic, with environments that feel fragmented and surreal. The use of color, lighting, and abstract imagery contributes to a sense of unease, reinforcing the game’s thematic focus on disorientation and instability. The sound design further enhances this atmosphere, blending ambient noise with experimental audio elements to create a soundscape that is both immersive and unsettling. Together, these elements create a world that feels distinct, even if it is not always cohesive. Pacing is irregular, shaped largely by the player’s ability to interpret and adapt to the game’s systems. There are moments of discovery and insight that can feel genuinely rewarding, particularly when a previously confusing mechanic suddenly becomes clear. However, these moments are often interspersed with periods of uncertainty, where progress slows or stalls due to a lack of direction. This uneven pacing can make the experience feel inconsistent, with its most engaging moments offset by stretches of confusion. Accessibility is one of the game’s most divisive aspects. It makes little effort to accommodate players unfamiliar with its design philosophy, offering minimal guidance and expecting a high level of patience and willingness to experiment. For some, this creates a sense of authenticity and depth, as the game feels like something to be explored rather than consumed. For others, it can make the experience feel impenetrable, as the lack of structure and clarity becomes a barrier to engagement. Despite its challenges, there is a clear sense of ambition behind //SNOWFLAKE TATTOO//. It is a game that prioritizes expression over convention, using its mechanics and presentation to create something that stands apart from more traditional titles. While it does not always succeed in making its ideas accessible or enjoyable, it remains memorable precisely because of its willingness to take risks and push boundaries. In the end, //SNOWFLAKE TATTOO// is not a game that can be easily recommended to a broad audience. It is a niche experience, designed for players who are open to experimentation and willing to engage with something that defies standard design principles. For those who appreciate abstract, thought-provoking works, it offers a unique and occasionally fascinating journey. For others, it may feel more like an exercise in frustration than a rewarding experience. Rating: 5/10

Even describing this game gives me a headache, let alone trying to play it. This is a retro pixel maze/shooter/puzzle game where you fly some kind of ship (motorbike?) around a maze collecting keys and "doll steaks", whatever they are. Various obstacles try to prevent you from progressing (not counting the terrible art design). Speaking of art design, it's some of the worst I've seen. I think they're trying for a very artistic 1980's pixel neon theme, but they fail this very badly. The flickering/flashing art is probably a seizure risk and the game should come with a warning for this.. The graphics are of very poor quality, even for a retro pixel game. The added flickering/fading/background noise just makes the game visually annoying and confusing. Gameplay itself is simplistic and kind of pointless feeling. Impossible to recommend low effort, low quality "games" like this. $5 price is a joke.
This is clearly a somewhat weird experience. Perfect game for those, who seek headache. This visual style is just painful to navigate in. Even the audio was quite painful to listen to. And the gameplay itself: Is rather confusing. I gave it an honest try, but I can't finish this. The game just seems to bring me migraines. I'm not even sure how to progress the story. The very first level is simply a chaotic mess. I truly can't recommend such terrible game. And the base price is 4,49€, what the heck. I gotta honestly give this a negative review. Not sure how I even obtained this garbage. It was probably in a bundle, or something? Well, thanks for the trading cards, I guess.

****EPILEPSY WARNING***** (flashing images throughout) Straight from the maths paper of the British bedroom programming scene into your imagination. //SNOWFLAKE TATTOO// is a harrowing and stark vignette; a neo - noir exploration of the character and motives of the merciless "sentient plasma sniper" of //NPPD RUSH//. Set years before, you play the roles of both that sniper and a mysterious, prototype human/bike hybrid she has hacked. Together you traverse and plunder a maze-like frozen storage ship that has been disabled by a huge solar storm. It's here you find your ill gotten reward. This is what your life has amounted to; you traffic in human beings through a trans-dimensional trading post called the abstraction, in the hope you will find your missing sister. What will you do?, sell these sleeping beauties off for the abstractions crude experiments, leave them to be cut up and turned into other bike hybrids, or save them ? - Music collaboration between Dylan Barry and F.tyler fusing the genres of experimental noise, modal ambient and electro. - 70's minimalist "Ghett-ro" crafting, survive by crafting health and sentient plasma from biological waste such as Collagen, enamel, unknown and even the "dollsteak" you came to steal. - perma-death /arena shooter crossover game play with a late 70's early 80's minimalism. - You choose your high score, do you take pleasure in trafficking these sleeping beauties for big money, or saving as many as you can 37.7% positive reviews 3/10
