Honestly, I feel like a lot of games today are leaning more toward simulation-style gameplay, and I have to admit, even in this Chilla’s Art game, the simulation aspect feels really good. I genuinely enjoyed the grinding and routine gameplay so much that, at some point, I completely forgot I was even playing a horror game. 😂 The story itself is short, but it’s still pretty nice and enjoyable. That said, I do kind of miss the old Chilla’s Art style. I personally preferred their more story-driven horror games rather than the newer grinding/simulation-focused mechanics. Even the previous game, umigari had more of that simulation-heavy approach. For me, what made Chilla’s Art special was their trademark story-driven horror experience, especially games like The Convenience Store and The Bathhouse. Those games had a simple daily routine, but the horror slowly unfolded through the environment, characters, and story. You start off doing something ordinary, and before you know it, something feels wrong. That style created a really unique atmosphere that I still miss. Overall, the game was still enjoyable, especially because of the satisfying grinding and simulation gameplay. The story may be short, but it was nice. I just hope future games bring back a little more of that classic Chilla’s Art storytelling and horror atmosphere. 😭
