I was lucky enough to play this game early, and I'd say it's a fantastic intro to VR for people who have never tried it before. The controls are basic and intuitive, and by using throw-to-teleport for movement nobody gets motion sick. I demo-ed this to a few people when I had some friends over and they all picked it up very quickly. Plus, I'm a huge sucker for Vive multiplayer games.
Pretty fun game but missing a big key aspect to online play, which is voice chat. I know its still early access, so its probably coming down the pipe line. The locomotive movements for this is different than any other VR game ive played, which I like better than teleporting for these types of games... Had an issue where I would lose visibility when clipping through objects. Overall its a great game, but the about of gameplay in the current build does not justify the $15 dollar price tag as of right now. It may get more gameplay features later on that would give it that value in the future, but right now I would only recommend it to people who have money to burn... Check out my youtube video of the game here. https://youtu.be/_3B7dTx1PJI

The mechanics are basic but fun, and the environment just feels right. I'm looking forward to seeing new/larger levels but the cul de sac is a great start. Motion sickness never hits me too hard, but the locomotion in this game doesn't make me uncomfortable in the slightest due to the throw-to-teleport feature. I recently found out about blocking incoming snowballs with your glove which makes for MUCH more active and creative gameplay. The only thing missing now are more players.
Snowday is an Early Access free to play VR game that lets you have multiplayer snowball fights. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The VR movement mode is teleport by throwing a ball. Has a tutorial. The devs are not developing it further, moved on, and they made it Free and Open Source code. Good arm throwing practice. Nobody is playing this. CONS: Not working correctly with Index controllers, the hand models are reversed and grabbing a snowball not working. Try this game, you might like it.

"Snowday" is an abandoned Early Access VR exclusive tech demo where you wave your arms around in VR to pretend you're throwing snowballs around. The developers abandoned this 8 years and 3 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. The graphics aren't great... that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging an eye watering, delusional $15 USD for this pointless tech demo. Price barriers, especially on unfinished, low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. This is a slap in the face to anyone naive enough to back this project thinking the developer would make good on their promises. Instead, the developers kept the money from all the backers they scammed. Not a single cent has been refunded. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 7 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

You can see my review & gameplay here: or you can read my review below: https://youtu.be/pGHyhtBbRS8
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
It's a shame that this game's MP servers were shut down, but understandable. Even though I never got to play online MP, I could see this being a very fun game against other players online. It's simple, but fun. It's basically just a snowball fight where you can get behind cover and chuck snowballs at opponents. The 2 available game environments look good. The game is very slow to load up, but the actual gameplay is smooth. The physics for throwing the snow balls seems to be top notch. You can also dodge or teleport out of the way. So everything works as it should. I played singleplayer and everything worked as expected. The only issue I found was that enemy AI was not very good. So unless you can start your own server and can get buddies to play this semi-retired game with you, your stuck with the dumb enemy AI. That's a shame because this was actually a pretty good MP VR game. Rate 5/10.

On it's own it's pretty boring. Multiplayer is where friends and family can hang out and throw snowballs at each other. The problem there is Multiplayer DOES NOT WORK. Had high hopes for it. Online connection is sketchy, and no LAN option either. The snowmen are really irritating as it takes away the fun from interacting with friends but then again nobody is every online and LAN connection not available. If they add a snowman option then at least have it in an optional 'Horde Mode', I was sold on the idea of snowballs and friends, sounds like good times and fun, but nothing else is added to the game, can't interact with the environment and the pointless and relentless re-spawning of snowmen a waste of time, as it cycles repeatedly without end. The price you pay for this is exorbitant! For something is is best off as a early access demo. No updates that we've noticed for a LONG time.
