Sniffin for Bones is a refreshing take in the hidden object genre with some old school vibes. Settings include; fullscreen or windowed (the windowed default is very small but can be manually resized). Putting prompts into the launch window did not work for me. There are also audio controls. 🦴 My audio was turned all the way down upon entering the game so check your audio at startup 🦴 I highly recommend a controller for this game (although arrow keys and space bar is usable) This game definitely feels like playing old school Super Mario meshed with a hidden object game and I am loving it. As you advance levels there are hidden bones you need to find in order to uncover secrets like vines you can climb in order to continue or finish the level. And each level is fairly short with the puzzles not too difficult to figure out. The whole game took me about an hour to finish. Some achievements may not pop for you until you close the game but I did manage to achieve them all even if they did not register right away.🐾

IndieGems wishes to thank Saint Sausage for providing a review copy for this game. I loved it so much! Very cozy and cute. I wanted to play only a couple of levels but it captivated me so much that I finished in one go. 100% recommend!
How can pixels be this adorable?? I absolutely love this little dog (reminds me so much of my own) exploring the cozy environment in search of bones. I played the demo before and really like what's been added after that! I love puzzles but struggle typically with platformers .. but I am glad I gave it a shot! I would reccomend this game to anyone who wants to play a simple but fun game that can be played in few sittings AND find some hidden objects without rage-quitting. Even though I wish there were more levels because I just warmed up, I will go back and try to get the final achievements that I have apparently missed... I want to catch that squirrel!! Really enjoyed this one! :)
Easy to get started and just right in difficulty, perfect for a rainy day!
This is the perfect cozy game. You play as an adorable little schnauzer, hopping around clever levels, collecting bones, and occasionally chasing mischievous squirrels (as one should). The controls are simple and smooth, the puzzles are a good mix of fun and brain-teasing, and the overall vibe is charming without being stressful. Every level feels like a tiny adventure. It’s a perfect pick-up-and-play game for relaxing moments. Cute, cozy, and full of personality — 10/10 good dog energy!
Great game, very cosy + first
Game received for free for Queens of Cosy curation page. I must admit from reading the description only I thought this was going to be a point and click hidden object game so was somewhat surprised to find myself playing a retro side-scroller with puzzle elements, but I'm not mad about it. The pros: the cute dog theme especially with the dev being called Saint Sausage and the bone collection is quite cute too. The art style is cute but admittedly doesn't translate as well on a large monitor. This feels more like a work in progress I got an hour and 10 mins of gameplay to complete every level, once I got going it was more addictive but the lack of music broke the immersion for me. Some of the prompts were unclear and at first when I completed puzzles and the camera shot to the other side of the screen, I thought I was banding, I think text-based prompts rather than images would have been clearer for example the ctrl to collect bone prompt looked to me like ctrl to pull a lever. Bonus points for being pad-compatible but I played this with mouse and keyboard, mostly this worked fine but when climbing up things it annoyed me how suddenly the space bar stopped working for jump and became the up arrow - I took some weird screen captures of the dog somewhat floating. The achievements didn't pop up or ping - I thought they were broken but have 6/7 so not sure why they didn't pop like usual. I think the game would benefit from a level counter too. Overall, there's an interesting seed of an idea but this felt more like a play test than a fully released game. If you don't mind only getting an hour of game play then £2.49 isn't a bad price but I'd like to have music, clarity and some quality-of-life changes so this is a neutral review.
Easy to pick up, hard to put down! Love it!
This was a pleasant little game. It's short and mellow, and requires just enough platforming and puzzle solving to be a fun quick game without being mindlessly easy or frustratingly difficult. I wish it had background music and not just general noises; nice music would make this a perfect little game, but it's still pretty nice. :)
Fun game with great pixel art!
