It’s fun for a few rounds, but the limited location and number of items might not hold your interest.
The game puts you in the shoes of a child who wants to sneak out of the house to attend a party at a nearby nightclub. He needs to act quickly because the party is going to start soon. Unfortunately, his parents are either awake or immediately react to any sound. That is why he has to use stuff around the house to keep them occupied while grabbing the key to the front door or find another way out.
The house is quite large and made up of multiple smaller rooms. Each looks unique and has one or two interaction points. These points or objects have outlines that indicate what they offer. Since it uses yellow and green that look very similar, this isn’t the best choice for people with colorblindness.
On the other hand, colors don’t matter because interactions use different buttons. So this means you can either search something, hide in it, or both. While hiding happens instantly, searching takes a few seconds. There are additional red objects, however they can only be used when you have the appropriate item. Hiding is useful but limits your view to the room you’re currently in. When sneaking around, you can see the entire house.
The gameplay is limited because there is just one house. The only difference between each game is which of the two parents will start in bed. While there are minor differences between them, such as mom finding you faster when you hide, they both wander around the home and behave similarly. There is also a dog that you should avoid because of its excellent hearing and scent. Unless you play with it.
Random elements come from stuff found in drawers and closets. There are not many of them, yet they can appear anywhere in the house and have a specialized purpose. Rubber duck, for example, make sounds when thrown and attract both parents. Then you can throw shampoo on the floor and slide on it, launch a toy car to distract the dog, or drop a ladder to climb.
There are numerous ways to get out of the house, including ten unique ideas revealed before the start. Except for the first idea, which includes slamming a door in a parent's face, everything is hidden. To unlock some of them, you must complete the game once. When you escape the house using one of the ideas, the idea icon will receive a party hat, and you will win an achievement.
Sadly, the game becomes too repetitive after a few runs. The beginning is always the same since you must first collect the blue key from the children's room, slip downstairs, and unlock the basement, which contains the most important items, before deciding which idea to use.
