About
Snake-A-Roid is an Arcade style game that's been lost down the back of the sofa.
Featuring a clean vector-like style, and crunchy chip tune sound track, it evokes an era where games taunted you to spend your money, as you climbed to the top of that high score table.
Featuring three modes of play:
Arcade - run through the 10 arenas, each with multiple waves of asteroids and aliens, with an arena guardian to defeat.
Survival - pick an arena and chase that score, before your snake runs out of segments.
Boss Run - go toe to toe with all the arena guardians, one after the other, before facing off against The Badger.
Multiple power-ups to feed your snake, including:
3-way split shot
Faster bullets
Bigger bullets
Snake shield
Smart bombs
And the ever tasty extra life
All of which stack up to turn your garden snake into a death adder.

It's snake, but mega hectic and pretty psychedelic. Maybe the snake ate one of those trippy frogs? Whatever it is, it's fun! Love the idea of mixing Asteroids in here, it fits really well. It's a pretty tough game to play, the bosses are really tough to beat but it's rewarding when you get through them. Powerups work well and it feels awesome when you're fully powered up blasting everything on the screen! (although tbh if it were up to me there'd be more powerups on the boss levels because they're pretty tough!) Works well with an xbox 360 controller (wireless, in this case) and I like that there are options to turn up/down the vibration on the controller as well as toggle screen shake on/off for folks who need less of that. It runs really well, no issues here, has a bangin' chiptune soundtrack, nice arcadey sounds and a nice arcadey feel to it all, so if you like classic arcade games I'm sure you'll like this.
This could not possibly be less like a game I normally play as an adult, but some magical confluence of "sounding like the Demoscene, and not even the Amiga Demoscene, like the Atari ST Demosccene or something" and "looking like someone doing a vague impression of Jeff Minter/Llamasoft" made me decide I absolutely had to own this game. And like...wow, yeah, like simultaneously playing Snake and Asteroids, and it somehow kind of works great. I am not going to say this is my game of the year for 2025, but it feels fun to play and sounds like a chaotic nightmare (in a good way) and really has me wondering how many other late 1970s/early 1980s games you could mash together to get good results. Space Invaders + Pac-Man has probably already been done but sounds fun; Frogger + Galaga? Rally-X + Donkey Kong?

Its asteroids meets snake made by badgers! A neat arcade game. Ideal for Steamdeck
Highly addictive little arcade gem! Take the best parts of Snake and Asteroids and smoosh 'em together to get a fast-paced pick up and play treat. I particularly like the fact that you can continue after losing lives right where you left off - though you'll clear your score, it's a fun mechanic to help move things forward. A fun way to spend an afternoon, or two, or three - you'll want to keep playing!
Great little arcade game - perfect for old fogey fans of Snake like me :)
Lil snake dude gets bombarded by a million rocks. A lot of fun for an arcade game! I am not very good at it though aha!
