I loved everything about this game.. Also loved smite 1 Also loved realm royale Also loved rogue company Also loved paladins... You know what they all have in common? Hi-Rez effing studios, a studio known for making amazing games and abandoning them when they start to pop... I'LL NEVER Never forgive them for what they did to rogue company, and smite 2 is their next game. Please invest your time in another game with a caring dev team, it saddened me writing this review but I can't hook onto another Hi-Rez game so they can abandon for the usual "better idea" games
Cash grab from a historically terrible developer known for abandoning titles. Rest in Peace, Global Agenda and all the victims that followed.
I don't feel like paying money to unlock all of the characters again. I don't feel I should have to pay money to unlock a character I have a legacy skin for. I don't like not having any of the cool skins from the first game. Their justification is an absolute and unadulterated lie and a blatant cash grab to get you to spend more money. If it were not, they would have given you a cash equivalent in diamonds for the new game. They did not. They gave you legacy diamonds which act as a discount on new purchases. So let's clarify: You play game. You pay to unlock things in game. Game goes to new version in separate title so you need new game. You go to new game. You pay for all things again. You want skins in new game. You still pay for skins at reduced price instead of getting costume tickets. You end up totaling +50-75% more money spent on all games. Developer takes your money and laughs at their franchise they killed themselves.

They really released the same game with less Gods and a worse shop UI, with none of the skins I purchased over the decade of playing the original. You wanna know why Smite never took off? It's because the people running the show are incompetent.
Me and my friends played Smite 1 all day everyday for years, and hoped that Smite 2 would be an improved version if the base game. It is not. Smite 2 has essentially none of the gods, a pointlessly complicated combat system compared to smite 1, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ new items, and changed everything to make base smite 1 players incapable of playing smite 2. Unironically the gameplay is so dihh compared to smite 1. They changed stuff just to change it, and then scammed players with their gems and skins bullsht. Even then this game plays like its still in beta, and is horrendously optimized. Literal trash game, im happy Hi-Rez went bankrupt.
Great game! I enjoy Smite 2 way more. I wish there was more gods, but I understand that stuff takes time.
Currently there's a bug that kicks you out of matches, including if you rejoin. Then it gives you a deserter penalty ensuring there's a minimal of 5 minutes wait between your next 5 matches. Guess I'll just uninstall.
After thousands of hours in Smite 1, I finally gave up and uninstalled Smite 2. There was nothing wrong with Smite 1 that justified turning the game into this. The balance is an absolute disaster. Mages can build HP and defense, become nearly impossible to kill, and still delete people with ridiculous damage. Where are the trade-offs? You shouldn't be able to build like a tank and hit like a glass cannon. The match that made me quit says everything. Three players on the enemy team left, and somehow Zeus turned into a literal raid boss. He was killing people with three basic attacks while being almost impossible to deal with. If that's the solution to players disconnecting, it's one of the worst balancing decisions I've seen. This doesn't feel like a competitive MOBA anymore—it feels like whoever abuses the latest broken mechanic wins. I wanted Smite 2 to succeed, but after spending so much time with Smite 1, this sequel feels like a downgrade in almost every way. Uninstalled.
Game is currently pay to win, if you have all gods you will play with the event ones (new god) that is immortal. When the event is over they nerf the gods so you feel like you have to always play with the new god that you have to pay crystals or have the bundle. Current God Xing Tian at level 2 can stay in tower , harras you and has no issue with taking any form of damage. Please note that I played Smite 1 a lot and I also did buy the bundle to get all gods .
I agree with many of the negative comments
It is absolutley mind boggling and borderline criminal how they managed to make a product so drastically inferior to the first game, while simultaneously killing the original. Everything that made Smite 1 great and unique is gone. Not even half the gods have been ported over yet (this pos has been out for 3 years already at time of review) not to mention the straight up theft of all those skins. However dont get it twisted this negative review is not out of spite for the horrendous money grabbiness of this product to all the loyal smite 1 players (i myself have over 5000hrs in that game i played since before it was on steam) SMITE 2 is actually inferior in gameplay, its incredibly buggy and on top of this you would think it would have dramatically outshine the first game graphically at least... it does not. Some of the models actually are inferior in quality to the old models. It truly is incomprehensible.
