Slit Mouthed - 口裂け女

Let's just start by saying that this is definitely quite the improvement over Teke Teke. I honestly really enjoyed playing this one; some puzzles, Japanese urban legend, multiple endings, and quite some spooks that actually got me. The game isn't that long, and while the endings aren't all too different, it does offer replayability. This one is definitely worth the money. I'm looking forward to more games by Nyxtales.

tedious with very few good scary moments

I've not completed the game so I can't provide a review based on the whole experience, but I've played for almost an hour and got a feel for it. Unfortunately a repeated crash at the same spot has meant I've applied for a refund. The game is indeed set inside a mansion where you can explore freely apart from some doors that are locked for gameplay purposes (and you need to find the key), but most of the rooms are sparse with the usual assets that you can pick up and inspect whilst rotating the item with your mouse and then put down again as you find in these indie games. Slit-mouthed woman's appearances are scripted, either involving a cheap jumpscare or a yes/no decision, and despite one semi-unscripted encounter where you can try to evade her, she just makes a beeline for you where you cannot evade her whilst trying to obtain the next objective - even if you try to remain hidden, don't run and keep breaking line of sight. If she catches you it's a spacebar-mashing experience and even when successful you'll take damage, but you can heal yourself using health items that you find around the mansion and store in your eight-slot inventory. There are also puzzles, and you're rewarded with different achievements based on how well you did, but my game repeatedly crashed on me after the goblin puzzle where the enemy would freeze in place, I couldn't use any items and couldn't interact with the door despite the prompt. I can see what Nyxtales were trying to do, but this game would have worked better if the enemy was much more free-roaming, and there were places to hide (after all, one of the game's marketing points is 'stealth') like Case: Animatronics, Alien Isolation, Granny and similar 'hide and sneak' games. It just felt like a walking simulator with added extras.

A quick Pro/Cons/Conclusion review about the game: Pros: Excellent Voice acting, as far the story telling goes it is delivered very well because of that and it gave quite a natural feeling. Decent Graphics and perfomance. Sound/Music were nice. Didn't found any particular game breaking bug to ruin the experience. Had a decent atmosphere. Cheap price. Achievements. Auto save. multiple endings. Multi-language translation ,always nice to see more languages besides english. Cons: Not that many puzzles. Wish there were more scares in the game or lore build up. Story wasn't anything that special to get engaged or attached to remember or talk about it, which is quite unfortunate because of the excellent voice acting. Conclusion: For it's price it's an okeish game, it had a few things that actually stood out from other indie horror games in that price tag. If you enjoy japanese based horror games it will mostly satisfy your needs. Glad to see that nyxtales did improve and learn from their previous game (teke-teke) and delivered something better, hope they continue to improve and listen to feedback to get even better.

This game is amazing! It takes some time to go around at first, but the tempo of "occurrences" of events speeds up through the game. The occasional creepiness and scares eventually turn into full-fledged fleeing and fearing for your life! And her voice will send chills down your spine (excellent job with that)! It plays very well on an older video card below their minimum recommendations, though it does flash some warnings when loading textures, nothing beyond that happens and there is no hampering of gameplay. Have found no bugs or glitches whatsoever, and felt that this was money well spent! I had a pretty fun time with this game. It has a nice atmosphere and a challenging but fun task towards the end. I was following this game since I first discovered it and it really lived up to the hype. Overall, if you enjoy survival horror games with some good scares then I'd say give it a try.

Хоть и короткий но довольно неплохой японский хоррор, повествующий о двух охранниках, которые столкнулись с городской легендой — Кутисакэ-онна. Игра очень мрачная, раза три прям испугала. Постоянно держит в напряжении. Записки были довольно интересными, загадка тоже (пришлось взять листок с карандашом), а ОЗВУЧЕННЫЕ переговоры между охранниками добавили атмосфере, за это отдельное спасибо! Выглядит также симпатично, а проходится всего за 1 час. Тем, кто любит игры про японские городские легенды (привет японским братьям-разработчикам Chilla's Art) и в целом J-хоррор рекомендую. Мне понравилось, буду ждать следующих игр от Nyxtales. Теперь немного об этом ёкае: Пожалуй, самый известный ёкай в мире. Согласно одной из легенд, много лет назад в Японии жила невероятно красивая женщина, и была она тщеславна и самолюбива. Её муж был ревнивым и жестоким человеком, и в какой-то момент начал подозревать жену в измене. В приступе ярости он порезал ей рот от уха до уха с намерением отвадить от нее других мужчин. От горя женщина утопилась, а ее душа вернулась в мир живых в качестве мстительного духа. Теперь она бродит по улицам, надев хирургическую маску, чтобы скрыть свои ужасные шрамы. Кутисакэ подкрадывается к своим жертвам ночью и спрашивает: «Я красивая?» Если человек ответит «нет», то женщина убьет его своими ножницами. Если же ответ будет «да», тогда Кутисакэ снимает маску, обнажая свои шрамы, и спрашивает: «А теперь?» Если на этот раз ответ — «нет», то женщина разрежет человека пополам, если же он по-прежнему ответит «да», то ему разрежут рот от уха до уха. Убежать же от нее невозможно.

I died a lot at the beginning of the game, for some reason I couldn't escape when Kuchisake Onna caught me. When I started the game again I pass it easily. The game doesn't take much time, but there are a few good puzzles. Beautiful asian decor and good scary moments. I found this game very similar to Teke Teke, I like both of them. Interesting stories about vengeful spirits from urban legends.

I want to let the developer know that I really liked the game! It was a different kind of horror game and I don't know if i just like the Japanese aspect too much but I really recommend it.
