An enjoyable and nicely made retro inspired platformer with lots of charm, but it's quite easy. Ronny has entered the annual climbing contest to see who can climb their mountain the highest. He soon realizes that it's not all going to be fun and games as he encounters hazards, monsters, and some unexpected rivals. Ronny's Climb is quite an easy retro platforming challenge, although there are some difficulties throughout the journey, and although you probably won't have too much trouble completing the climb, it is very difficult to collect all the diamonds on each stage, which most of the achievements are attached to, and there are some very tricky quests to complete which will test you. I tried getting some of the achievements and they are where the challenge lies in this game. Each stage is also timed and there are times to beat to get further achievements. Your best run is recorded for each stage. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3431266885 Collecting all the diamonds is definitely a challenge if you want to aim for the achievements because there are hidden passageways, levers which control lifts, and doorways which send you to different places and it is quite hard to navigate around the levels to find all of them. There's also lots of dangers like flying bats, jumping frogs, bees, spikes, and falling stalactites that are all ready to ruin your climb and take away one of your lives. There are checkpoints throughout each level which you will start at again if you lose all of your lives, but to be honest the amount of lives you get is very generous and if you collect enough diamonds in each level you get awarded a permanent extra heart. If think I ended up with six permanent lives and there are lots of opportunities to top up your lives as you progress so you don't actually die that often. A few new mechanics are introduced as you climb, namely higher jumps, dashes, and a ground thump, which will help you reach more ledges and ladders and break fragile floors where diamonds might be hiding. There are occasional puzzles where you have to push blocks to reach ledges too and Trampolines can help you spring to higher ground and wind currents can elevate you too. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3431266956 There's quite a lot of charm to the game with a retro soundtrack and some cute encounters with the inhabitants you are racing against. Quite often you'll be able to stop and talk to them for a bit of light-hearted banter, which was nice. Apart from the story mode there is a time trial mode and a chapter select so it is easy to repeat levels if you want to try and beat your current time or get more achievements.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Ronny's climb is a decent platformer which is enjoyable to play. The actual climb is not that difficult and probably could have done with some different difficulty levels to appease all skill levels, but collecting all the diamonds and finding some special items is challenging, so there are more difficult aspects of the game. I liked the retro aesthetic of the game and the catchy soundtrack and appreciated the little sprinklings of charm as you engaged in witty conversations with your rival climbers. The game takes about 90 minutes to finish the climb but for people trying to get all the achievements you can add a couple of hours more so it is good value for money too. Recommended. A first look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFJ1VIeJ_j8 Ronny’s Climb is a relatively short, charming platformer that has completely won me over. The visuals are breathtaking and incredibly appealing, while the audio beautifully complements the retro theme. It transported me back to the '90s, putting a big smile on my face. As a casual gamer, I found it smooth and remarkably enjoyable for those like me, who may not be highly skilled but still adore the platforming genre. I genuinely appreciate that I can converse with any NPC I choose. What surprises me most is that each character possesses a distinct personality and dialogue. This feature significantly enhances immersion, drawing me deeper into the game than I anticipated. I also noticed the cheesy jokes at the end of each level; a few even made me snort a bit. I think I already miss them as well. Heh. But I digress. In addition to reaching the peak, there are several challenges you can undertake, which I think is fantastic as it enriches gameplay. There's plenty to discover, from collecting gems and finding secrets to completing time trials and avoiding damage. Upon revisiting the stage selection, each level clearly outlines the goals you need to achieve. Throughout your journey, you will discover various skills that will assist you in progressing and will help you when revisiting earlier stages to tackle those challenges mentioned above. So yes, if you want to add a fun, short platformer to your collection, I wholeheartedly recommend it! Meanwhile, I’ll be eagerly anticipating what Zephyrix will release next. Salut mes petits agneaux ! Leur but ? Super fun and cute game! I had to play every stage multiple times - once to have all conversations (I loved the wolf jokes) and then over and over trying to beat the par and to find all gems. And I enjoyed each run :D
i lob it sm thank

I playtested their upcoming game Dragon Dragon Fire Fire earlier and found this release from the same Dev interesting, so I bought it and played today. It’s a very cute 2D climbing platformer with several talking animals and a few easy enemies. Nice relaxing game after a busy day. The jumping is responsive and of the right height, the dash covers a good distance. The platforms are well designed too, no crazy precision jumps and could still be engaging at a few places and fun. Also you don’t need to collect every single gem to get the reward at the end of a level, just enough of them. A nice design choice, so players aren’t forced to search every corner of the map. The game can be completed in less than an hour, by the end it gave me a bit of an A Short Hike feeling. Honestly it’s a lovely little game, it deserves more attention. A very cute and short platforming experience to relax to. I loved every moment of this. Every single game nowadays needs to be one of the hardest things you've ever played or it doesn't think it's worth your time. Ronny's Climb in confident in it's difficulty and just wants to make button presses feel satisfying again. All the platforming was satisfying, there were small difficulty spikes to keep you interested and on your toes, the art and music is cute and well done, and there's even hidden areas on the maps for replayability and exploration. Ronny's Climb also has challenges for each level, helping encourage you to go back and discover things you didn't know about each level. Overall, this was lovely. I honestly didn't expect to like it as much as I did but I can't wait for a longer experience from this dev in the future. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to play this, otherwise it may not have ended up on my radar and that would be just sad. Please enjoy this game if you pick it up. <3 ((Also can I just say I LOVE the sprite animations. Everything is really cute but especially the idle animation is great! Really made me smile so cheers!)) If you'd like to check out my curation page, it's right HERE ! :)
Fun short game. Fairly straight forward, with some good writing. I did especially like the character given to the NPCs along with how poignant the end scene was.
Positives: Small and simple, but very organized. A game for all ages. Cute graphics in-game, I could tell much of the art was made with care, given the pixel limits. Lots of aspects and achievements give depth in stage replayability. I enjoyed all the hidden bonuses and the step up in difficulty there. For the vast majority of time everything felt fair and my time did not feel wasted. Mixed: Music had some very great tracks that I kept returning to, but others were forgettable. The game is creatively inert, but what it does, it does well. Negatives: I could see this game expanded, such as with characters, worldbuilding, and narrative, which were technically there, but very minimal, no named characters beyond the title. Even Ronny is a mystery to me. It feels like a waste. Overall: They did good for such a small team with a free game engine, congrats to them. A good portfolio project. This feels like a stepping stone to bigger things. I'm glad to contribute to it as a customer.
