Sleep Attack

This game has a really cool idea at its core: place towers and move them, and the paths, around! However, the difficulty curve quickly becomes absurdly steep and only gets worse in later areas. There are some extra consumable abilities, but the cost for most of them is as high as those for the towers and upgrades, considering the amount of resources one can amass during gameplay. The game's visual aesthetic seems to be going for "more colorful [i]PixelJunk Monsters[/i]", but takes no lessons from that superior game about why its graphics work so well. Here, both coin drops and your cursor do not stand out enough and can easily get lost during a particularly hectic wave. This is especially frustrating when it comes to the coins, as they disappear if they haven't been picked up after several seconds. To add insult to injury, even though this game is playable in both Mac OS and Windows, and supports Steam Cloud, my cloud saves did not work when I went from a PC to a Mac. I often play casual games in both OSes, and when Steam Cloud is available, it's really nice to be able to switch between computers as the situation allows. If I had enjoyed this game more, I might've listed this bug(?) as a caveat on a positive review, but here, it's just another disappointment.
